Natural Science 301 Guidelines

This is an open forum area for all members for discussions on all issues of science and origins. This area will and does get volatile at times, but we ask that it be kept to a dull roar, and moderators will intervene to keep the peace if necessary. This means obvious trolling and flaming that becomes a problem will be dealt with, and you might find yourself in the doghouse.

As usual, Tweb rules apply. If you haven't read them now would be a good time.

Yeah, it's not just you who feels profoundly uncomfortable with the loss of causality. A number of physicists do too, and they're trying to come up with ideas for a causal physical system from which quantum behavior emerges naturally. It's all theoretical at this point, and plenty of other are just happy to accept that the quantum world just is what it is.

One way to look at it is that our brain has evolved and learned to intuit things in a causal world of large objects moving at moderate speeds. Since quantum and relativistic effects never enter into things, we have never been able to reach a point where they make intuitive sense to most of us.

The wonder to me is that, despite that, we've been able to figure out so many of the rules.
