Re: occupy wall street starting to piss off residents
Worse happens in football riots all the time, the attention was disproportionate, is all.
Ahhhhhhhhh nooooooooooooo every time when I've forgotten him! Here's something you'll also like: the dude crapping on the car kinda looks like Shaggy, doesn't he? Good thing cars can't get headaches, or we'd really be in for a pictorial treat. :p
CP, I put the caveat about a few good ones specifically with you in mind. No offence but I've had too much crap off the regional force, as have far too many of my friends and acquaintences, for me to even begin to start talking kindly about them as an organization. Make whatever judgements you will about myself and the company I keep, given the above comment; but there's no point taking this further. Be well

Occupy LA speaker calling for the murder of the "bourgeois"."Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Re: occupy wall street starting to piss off residents
Now its only ten in a much larger group but you have to wonder if there are more like this. Especially since they are appearing to be advertising for protesters in New York
And in Chicago one protester claimed he's being paid $22 and hour - plus overtime - to protest "corporate greed."

I still think there is a legitimate sentiment here. It ain't all astroturf.
Disregard the above.

Re: occupy wall street starting to piss off residents
arrgh. These morons are hanging around downtown Louisville too. They don't even have a clue what they are protesting or what they want to accomplish. It's just a big "sit in" with no purpose.
The idiots camped out in back of our building for something like 2 weeks, just standing around doing nothing. When asked what they were protesting, they couldn't give any clear answers. Apparently they just dislike "big business" or something. After 2 weeks, someone told them that there weren't any big businesses in our building and that the bank buildings were down the road, so they all packed up and moved on to the bank building. LOL.
Stupid morons. The whole thing would make a great Seinfeld episode with Kramer walking around protesting nothing at all.

Perhaps I'm a little "tainted" on this issue -- when I was a young police officer, a local news crew was following us around trying to catch somebody abusing power. We stopped a car for suspected DUI, and the news van parked across the street, filming. As my partner approached the vehicle, the driver leaned out the window and shot my partner in the chest twice at about 5 or 6 feet distances. I was in the passenger side of the police car radioing in the traffic stop, but I saw John return fire - all 6 shots of his .38 police special - and kill the driver. FORTUNATELY, John was wearing his "second chance" body armor under his uniform shirt, even though, in those days, it was HOT and very HEAVY. John got some pretty serious bruises to his sternum and a couple ribs, but was otherwise fine.
The news crew's video showed John look over at the news van, distracted by their "freedom of the press", which is why he wasn't watching the driver like he should have been. Had he not been wearing the body armor, he'd be dead.
ETA: I just realized that "videoing them" may have referred to videoing the PROTESTORS -- I assumed, perhaps falsely, that you were saying the POLICE were the "them" being videoed.
Anyway, it was a good chance for me to tell another police story.

I agree 100% that police NEED to be accountable, but, for cryin' out loud, Chrs - EVERYBODY has a video camera in their pocket unless they have an ancient (or no) cell phone. And I wouldn't be so hasty to call it "incredibly rare" -- you'd just have to watch our local channel 13 news.
This is TEXAS, mind you -- land of the free and home of the gun toters and amateur videographers!
