More on the topic of honey. Buy from someone local you trust. The honey in the stores is seriously suspect. The info in the linked site may be extreme, but there is a lot of truth in it none-the-less.

The claim is "More than 75 percent of all 'honey' sold in grocery stores contains no honey at all, by definition." The part about contaminated honey from China is scary enough by itself. He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

When I saw this part of the article....
For the investigation, Vaughn Bryant, one of the nation's leading melissopalynologists, or experts in identifying pollen in honey, and director of the Palynology Research Laboratory at Texas A&M University, evaluated more than 60 products labeled as "honey" that had been purchased by FSN from ten states and the District of Columbia.
I knew it had to be true!
My wife works for Texas A&M Extension, and knows of this man's work.
We always buy our honey from a local market from an actual beekeeper.

There is at least one explanation for pollen free honey that does not mean imitation. Dubious honey can be forced through super find filters to remove everything. This is, however another less than honest approach to things.
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

Hi Grandpa. Well I'm kinda not into "natural news" its actually a little on the conspiracy theorist side for me. there are some grains of truth. Such as contamination from china, but.....most of it is bunk. I do agree that the best honey is general local unfiltered and raw. Which if we can we buy, if not, we purchase from whole foods or trader joes.

I have to admit, C26, that I tend the same way. However there is enough truth to this one to make it valuable. We as a nation are very suspicious of honey from China. Many tons have been rejected. That means that it is transshipped to another country that is less picky, and shipped to the USA as from that country. I would not eat grocery store honey for those reasons. Plus, I manage to collect my own, that is my bees collect it for me, and it tastes so much better most folks would not believe the difference.
Yeas ago I had a friend at work. (Yep even Grampa Jed) I was looking for a hive location in his general area and he wanted a hive there for the benefits of his kids. At the end of the year I offered him some honey. "No thanks, I don't care for honey." Later he said, he would like some for his dad who did like honey. Somewhere along the way he tasted his dad's supply and came to me saying, "Is that honey offer still good. I really like that honey."He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

I used to drink a cup of black tea every afternoon with a spoon of honey in it -- I'll have to get back to that.

It is also good to increase the number of spices one uses because of the many side benefits they contain, such as ginger, turmeric, rosemary, etc. Variety is the spice of life.
1 Corinthians 2:14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
"I recall your earliest lessons. You fell from one thousand feet during the walk of death, which, alone, was odd enough at your age, but you made short work of the walk of maiming and the walk of intense discomfort and tore your head clean off. I comforted you, well, your head, saying that you could just walk if off, because, you know, the cut was clean and then you would punch a mountain. In space!" -Master Li, Jade Empire
