Huntsman makes racially insensitive joke...
So of course his liberal friends help him out:
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics...-colbert-bump/
Of course. When Colbert played a sound effect of a stereotypical Chinese riff, Huntsman joked, “When’s the delivery food coming?” After a few seconds of awkward silence, Colbert replied, “Did that go over well in Beijing?” This portion of the interview was cut for time from the broadcast.
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

so Colbert plays a sound effect of a Chinese riff...he's making fun of how the Chinese sound when they fight for a laugh? and Huntsman is doing the same thing except his attempt at Chinese humor is not funny, but then a few minutes later, it all turns out okay when he shows he knows how to speak Mandarin.
sounds like a bag of lol.
Colbert can make you laugh and then for some reason after you laugh you want to slap him a few times for making you laugh

I think you got the order wrong. I'd slap him first, then I'd laugh.

This should approximately double the amount of Huntsman's press coverage.

The very best psychological explanation for why Women Shouldn't Vote.Colbert can make you laugh and then for some reason after you laugh you want to slap him a few times for making you laughIn reaction to Richwine Affair, all right-thinking people are quick to proclaim that they don’t believe in a genetic basis for IQ. They’re much less quick to explain – with any sort of precision – what they actually do believe in. At best, we’re treated to some hand-waving paired with the phrase “social construct.”.

Can't link, but if you stick "ponderland class" into youtube and stick on part 1 at 04:15, it's pretty apropos. The whole episode's actually quite good for those interested in the British class system from a sociological perspective. Lots of vintage clips, very funny. Some coarse humour.
And a linkable classic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LS37SNYjg8w

Loving how forced the conversation is, even for a comedy sketch. Once again, the real story is in the comments:
"In Uni we watched this, and one of the girls in the Political Ideologies Lecture got really angry. The Lecturer is a woman who really enjoys having a laugh, but this girl got really upset and angry. Every other person in the lecture got the jokes in this, but she filed a complaint and asked for a transfer out of the Uni."
"This is hilarious, but honestly, it's also pretty good advice. Seriously women, KNOW your limits!"
"women talk more serious issues than men??...funny cz where i work i've been hearing about cream products, clothes, shoes, food, children, bff, bfs, wat x said, what y replied..etc etc....& that most of the time...im nt saying that men dont talk nonsense..like football, and alcohol...etc i think women cant live without this...thats a fact..these kind of pointless convos make them happy..intellectual ones make em less happy"
That woman's line about the gold standard was probably written by a beta nerd who pines for a mythical One True Love Who Loves Macroeconomics As Much As Me, Who'll Use Her Beauty And Charm To Finally Break The Truth To Those Vapid Jocks Who Can't See, And Can Also Spout Witticisms About The Peloponnesian War At Will.In reaction to Richwine Affair, all right-thinking people are quick to proclaim that they don’t believe in a genetic basis for IQ. They’re much less quick to explain – with any sort of precision – what they actually do believe in. At best, we’re treated to some hand-waving paired with the phrase “social construct.”.

Meh, Paul Whitehouse is a former tradesperson (plasterer, IIRC); Enfield's a little posher, but seriously you're missing a lot with your critique. The sketch is supposed to be forced, it's parodying the style of actual public service announcements from the 1930s. I find it difficult to take you seriously as a comedy or art critic of any stripe, anyway; you're pretty much limited to memes and anything controversial that lines up with your own ideology; which is a real shame, but exactly what happens when you eschew any personality traits that might not seem alpharrrrrrr YEAH!!!1!!
ETA: I entirely forgot to address the YouTube comments. I don't even entertain that level of arrogant and uneducated bluster unless I'm getting free drinks out of it.Last edited by CodewordConduit; October 29th 2011 at 10:54 AM.
