      The Hard Question Game

      My new game is the Hard Question Game.

      You ask a Hard Question.
      The question must be researchable on the web, or a question that has come from a widely distributed and/or textual source. The textual source may be modern or ancient but must be readily accessible.

      Some ancient Persian inscription in some museum in London is not acceptable.

      If a question goes for 24 hours without an answer then the question poster wins!

      Re: The Hard Question Game

      What effect will the recent change to the economic substance doctrine codified under section 7701(O) have on the US economy?
      Micah 6:6. With what shall I come before the Lord, bow before the Most High G-d? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with yearling calves? 7. Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with myriad streams of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8. He has told you, O man, what is good, and what the Lord demands of you; but to do justice, to love loving-kindness, and to walk discreetly with your G-d.

      It is used to strop a block and is preferable to a grommet, though both are used for this purpose. A selvagee strop is made by driving two large nails firmly into a piece of board at a distance apart of about half the circumference of the required strop. One end of a ball of rope-yarn is fastened to one of the nails, and the yarn is wound round the two nails as tightly as possible, until the ring thus formed is sufficiently stout. Then the yarns are tied together, or marled at short intervals, with twine, and lastly the strop is well stretched with tackle.

      Okay . . . I see. Hmmm . . . . is that a definitive answer type question. I've never thought there were two economists that could agree on anything.

      I'll try.

      Good point. Okay, rephrased:

      renewableinsights.com

      New Section 7701(o) of the Internal Revenue Code provides that any transaction or series of transactions to which the economic substance doctrine “is relevant” is treated as having economic substance only if (1) the transaction changes, in a meaningful way, the taxpayer’s economic position, and (2) the taxpayer has a substantial purpose for entering into such transaction. The determination of whether the economic substance doctrine is “relevant” to a transaction is made in the same manner as if the provision had never been enacted. Thus, the provision does not change present law standards in determining whether a transaction raises economic substance issues.

      The provision clarifies that the economic substance doctrine involves a conjunctive analysis. A transaction must satisfy both tests, i.e., the transaction must change in a meaningful way (apart from tax effects) the taxpayer’s economic position and the taxpayer must have a substantial non-federal-income-tax purpose. This clarification eliminates the disparity that existed among the federal circuit courts regarding the application of the doctrine, and modifies its application in those circuits in which either a change in economic position or a non-tax business purpose (without having both) is sufficient to satisfy the economic substance doctrine.

      A feather is dropped on the moon from a height of 1.40 meters. The acceleration of gravity on the moon is 1.67 m/s2. Determine the time for the feather to fall to the surface of the moon?

      s = ut + (1/2)at^2
      s = 0 + (0.5*1.67) * t^2
      1.4 / (0.5*1.67) = t^2
      therefore t = sqrt(1.4 / (0.5*1.67))
      t= ~1.3s

      Why do tutors think that incredibly complicated pieces of software are easy and could easily be written in the 8 hours allotted, and as such you should totally add more?
