Re: The Anon Road to Damascus Thread
It's apparently not uncommon to show it in a civics or government class, though I have no idea why.
Some may call me foolish - some may call me odd
But I'd rather be a fool in the eyes of men
Than a fool in the eyes of God

Hey Greg Koukl read this letter on Stand to Reason this past weekend, and apparently William Lane Craig read it at the EPS Apologetics Conference in Berkley. Anon is making headlines all over the place.

It was Zeitgeist! Or maybe Loose Change ... I can't remember? Whichever one has three parts with the first part being the Christ myth theory is the one I watched. Yup, Googled it out to Zeitgeist. That's what I get for not editing a post ... oy vey.
I think the article I read was your one on either Mithraism or Osirus and Horus. Maybe even both. Looking at them now brings the "distantly familiar" ring to me. I know I read quite a bit, and I remember that one of your common links was to a guy named Glenn Miller, because I kept on thinking of that song we played in jazz band, "In the Mood." I've been long away from the historical side of the search, and I need to get back into it!I haven't really changed that much since I was an atheist. I just believe in one more god than you now.

Re: The Anon Road to Damascus Thread
Yes, that sounds like a familiar emotion. Not that I am ashamed to be one now, but more that I miss getting ridiculously drunk, cursing, sitting on the judgment seat of God all by myself, having no authority to answer for the wrong I've done, giving the twice-over to every pretty lady that happened to walk by, telling occasional white lies for my own advantage, openly despising civil authority, and allowing myself to get uncontrollably angry and temperamental rather than dealing with emotions in a responsible way. I don't like giving those up. Heck I'll probably fall back into them from time to time, but I'll feel like crap afterward. I miss them, after all. I just happen to love God more now.

Re: The Anon Road to Damascus Thread
This will be your struggle for the rest of your life. You'll probably find that as you grow as a Christian that there are deeper and more hidden sins in the human heart such as pride (religious pride is especially easy to fall into if you aren't careful). However, what is happening is that God will use this to make you more holy and more like Christ. It's really awesome that you've overcome the intellectual obstacles that kept you away from the faith. Now your fight is with sin itself.
However, I don't want to discourage you. Christ said that whoever comes to him in repentance he will not turn away. He also said that he is with us always even to the end of the world. You didn't become a Christian by accident. God will always be with you and will always want to draw you to himself. When you sin, don't despair, but come again back to him. Also, keep praying as best as you know how. A consistent life of prayer is a big help in your walk with God.

***Rest in peace, Curtmudgeon!***
"I hate Manwe's posts because I hate babies and America." --Augustine2004, August 6, 2011
Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'
The Words of Húrin and Morgoth, "The Children of Húrin" by J.R.R. Tolkien

Crab Battle
noun
Words uttered to incite an all in brawl. Whoever says the words 'Crab Battle' will usually be spear tackled to the ground by anyone else present, and all parties will then engage in a fight to the death.
Reality untouchable, transparent, invisible to our fixed, restricted fields of vision. Existence taken for granted, absolute. Possessed, owned, controlled by the common sense-infected rational gaze, onward forever we walk among the ignorant. Never stray from the common lines.
My blog . My book. My YouTube channel.

I've been poked here for NOT wanting to write about Zeitgeist and didn't do so myself until CRI offered to pay me to do so. At times I wonder if it was worth it to risk the potential brain damage.
