Water Does Not Prevent Dehydration - European Union

EU bans claim that water can prevent dehydration

Sometimes it takes really smart people to do really stupid things... But this looks more like really stupid people doing really stupid things.

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." - Jim Elliot

      Matthew 8:26-27

He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!"

Add that to the growing list of EU idiocy. Didn't they try to outlaw curved bananas or something?

Except drinking bottled water does reduce the risk of dehydration. I've read some retarded guardian spin that it's still possible to get dehydrated even if you drink water therefore this is perfectly fine, except nobody said "Drinking bottled water guarantees you won't be dehydrated" making the whole thing some pretty ridiculous spin.

“This claim is trying to imply that there is something special about bottled water which is not a reasonable claim.”
No, the claim is highlighting a benefit of a product. There is a desperate need to cut off idiot bureaucrats (including the scientific type) who have nothing better to do than to fabricate new problems with stupid solutions do justify their paycheck.
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.

The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.

And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Sooo, they're saying water does hydrate...

The Department for Health disputed the wisdom of the new law. A spokesman said: “Of course water hydrates. While we support the EU in preventing false claims about products, we need to exercise common sense as far as possible."
...but if it's in a bottle it doesn't hydrate?

Nothing seems to indicate that they were wanting to claim that "there is something special about bottled water" but simply state a fact. Seems more of an instance of bureaucrats needing to justify their pay check.

"Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded- here and there, now and then- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as “bad luck.”"

No, they're saying there's no difference in hydration between bottled and regular water.

Which is not the claim they were asked to verify. The claim is, as you quoted:

“The EU is saying that this does not reduce the risk of dehydration and that is correct."

Bottled water does reduce the risk of dehydration. Making your statement a non-sequitur at best.

But there is nothing to suggest they ever wanted to claim that bottled water was better at hydrating you. Just that bottled water can hydrate you which is an indisputable fact.

Worse. If the quacks that push homeopathy are correct and water "remembers" what it has contained...
