The Republican obsession with Nancy Pelosi is bizarre. If she were actually doing something I could understand why Republicans might focus on her. But they seem to have narrowed in on a randomly chosen Democrat to try and go after.

I think perhaps Republicans thrive on focused hate. They focused that hate on Obama, and then Hillary. Now that they're both out of the picture, the Republican strategists have looked around for someone to focus their ignorant base's hate on, and essentially picked Nancy Pelosi at random. It's not because she's actually done anything particularly good or bad (I would personally rate her as averagely incompetent). The Republican base is happy that it's got someone to hate, and that's all that matters to them.

"Randomly chosen"? Do you even know who Nancy Pelosi is? She's the House Minority Leader, i.e. leader of the Democrats in the House of Representatives. She's arguably the single most important elected Democrat right now... and if she isn't the most important, she's the second most important, after Chuck Schumer (Senate Minority Leader).

Give credit where credit is due. She has been remarkably successful in keeping House Democrats in lockstep.

A fairly ineffective politician among the democratic leadership. I find her mildly annoying, mildly nutty, fairly ineffective, and would like to see her replaced. Given she hasn't done anything much significant, the Republican voters' obsession with her is bizarre. Are you suggesting that the Republicans are justified in just fixating on whoever they consider to be 'in charge' of the Democratic party at any given time and demonizing that person to their base, regardless of whether that person has done anything much good or bad?

It seems to me that the Republican base is just full of hate, and they like focusing on the evils of <insert democratic name here> and going to the polls and symbolically voting against that person (in their local election where that person isn't running). They hated Obama, then Hillary, and now it's moved onto Pelosi of all people. And so we saw in the most recent election in Georgia, Pelosi being brought up by Republicans as the great evil whom they needed to vote against by voting against the local democrat Ossoff. Whereas when Ossoff was asked about Pelosi his response was (I paraphrase) "Who cares? I haven't spent even 5 minutes thinking about her." Republicans seem to care waaaaay more about the democrat leadership than democrats do.
