Is anybody else disturbed by this..
http://drawn.ca/archive/pencils-made...emated-humans/
I wouldn't want to make art made out of dead people, sorry, but I wouldn't. I already don't like drawing on paper, since it could have grown out of a dead person or dead animal.
Does this make me crazy?

Ok that last sentence was pretty stupid. I read that transmute reply that somebody put in there.

"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

I found out about this pencil thing from a list on Cracked last night, 6 coolest things to have done with your dead body. The pencil one, I thought it was the most disturbing and gross.
I wouldn't want to draw out of a piece of somebody's femur. Eww. Being put in a body farm seems better.Last edited by Christy; December 23rd 2011 at 02:19 AM.

Carbon is carbon, whether it be natural graphite or the basic building blocks of organic life - neither one is grosser than another under a microscope. As long as the person voluntarily surrenders their body, it doesn't bother me.

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Meat is meat, whether it be animal or human-neither one is grosser than another when cooked properly. As long as a person voluntarily surrenders their body it doesn't bother me.
I know it won't do anything physically harmful but it's still gross.
What especially grossed me out was that comment left from the guy talking about the India country growing greenery over the dead corpse. If a plant was grown over a all its corpse, most of it's nutrients and stuff in it's cells would come from the decomposed corpse. So you may already be eating small pieces from a dead person and not be knowing it.
Somebody got me a salad yesterday and I didn't eat it after reading that. I stuck it in the fridge.
I don't get cremation either. When somebody is cremated, lots of them probably goes up in the smoke anyway. I hear what's left in the ashes is mostly bone and the coffin, but I'm not sure.

In an ideal world having a beautiful piece of art made from your ashes sounds great, but I'm pretty sure most people are just going to end up as someone's anime fanart

Meh. Pencils. So what?
Nature loves to recycle, and dead people, dead dinos, or dead skunks in the middle of the road--all are one to nature. The carbon and nitrogen in your food was once the carbon and nitrogen in other bodies, human and otherwise.
Also, you're drinking recycled urine. Bon appetit!Last edited by Crow; December 23rd 2011 at 11:38 PM.

Re: Is anybody else disturbed by this..
Urine is sterile anyway, so I don't really care about that, so it doesn't disturb me as much as eating people. The guy in the pencil people post made it sound like a plant over top of a corspe is actually the mutated corpse. Most of it's cells would have the stuff that was in the corpse's cells in it, if that's where it's planted it's entire life. Life is disqusting.
So why is cannabalism so shocking to people?
