  • Bernie and wife under FBI Investigation

    Is 'No-Refunds' commie-with-three houses-Bernie, guilty??

Sanders' top adviser Jeff Weaver told CBS News the couple has sought legal protection over federal agents' allegations from a January 2016 complaint accusing then-President of Burlington College, Ms. Sanders, of distorting donor levels in a 2010 loan application for $10 million from People's United Bank to purchase 33 acres of land for the institution.

According to Politico, prosecutors might also be looking into allegations that Sen. Sanders' office inappropriately urged the bank to approve the loan.

He and his wife are innocent until proven guilty. That said, the federal government doesn't tend to step in with whistleblowers if there isn't at least some smoke there.

What is it with going after everyone except the Clintons?
Actually YOU put Trump in the White House. He wouldn't have gotten 1% of the vote if it wasn't for the widespread spiritual and cultural devastation caused by progressive policies. There's no "this country" left with your immigration policies, your "allies" are worthless and even more suicidal than you are and democracy is a sick joke that I hope nobody ever thinks about repeating when the current order collapses. - Darth_Executor striking a conciliatory note in Civics 101

yeesh. I think this is all a scheme by the FBI to hire more investigators. Is everyone in DC under investigation now?

And if we apply the logic of liberals, that means they're guilty!

I don't think you do, either. It's a legal construct. The "court of public opinion" is free to deliver whatever verdict it wants.

The court of public opinion has a tendency to declare verdicts without knowing many of the salient facts, and is therefore often wrong.

This is one FBI investigation of a presidential candidate that the network news seems to have no interest in. Although there was a piece about it Friday in CBSNews.com (the story in the OP) it looks like none of the Big 3 have said a word about it during their network broadcasts. What's more, even though he was interviewed for something like 7 minutes on NBC's Meet the Press this past Sunday anchor Chuck Todd managed to never bring up this breaking story.

I'm always still in trouble again

Even if everything both Sanders and his wife are accused of is true, it seems like it would be the smallest and most irrelevant crime ever committed by a US politician. I can see why it doesn't make headlines, even given Sanders is the most popular politician in the US currently.

His popularity is largely based on a belief that he is a straight shooter. This brings that image into serious question.

The MSM does not want the public realizing that he's just another corrupt politician.

                            Hi!

So here's it works. It is of course, literally true that some is morally innocent or guilty.

Presumption of innocence is not merely a legal construct, but also logical one. It is such, because negatives cannot be proven.

You are not guilty of theft because some accuses thereof. You are not obligated to argue for or prove your innocence, because... negatives cannot be proven.

While it is certainly true that guilty person can be acquitted, it doesn't change the fact the presumption of innocence is as much a consequence of logic as it is a legal convention.

sure negatives can be proven. I can prove I was not in Timbuktu at the scene of the murder so I am innocent.
