CP, you emphasized "Actual Quotes" as though it was important to you. And then you don't provide an actual quote (while at the same time mis-representing your summary as an actual quote). "Secret Teachings" carries with it a much different connotation than the words I actually used, which are "official teachings" and "official doctrines".
So why did you do that? It doesn't help your cause when you are talking about "actual quotes" and stating how important it is to use them, and then you go and do something like this.
I had something in mind to talk about regarding your request, but you need to first acknowledge your mistake in mis-representing my "actual quote." Because I am not going to comment further under the distortion and misrepresentation you created in that thread "SECRET TEACHINGS".
Thanks"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.
And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in c\taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning."

Another personal attack. Note the "YOU" followed by a personal insult.
All I want to know is why would you write this:
And then try to give the impression that the term "secret teachings" was mine? Or misrepresent that term as being something that I said?

Glad you caught it, OC. (And can I assume that, because Jeff is Private Messaging, he's feeding you your talking points?
)
OC -- if you REALLY want to know, then for cryin' out loud, go to the thread and defend your honor! If you want to prove how pedantic you can be (I learned that word from Jeff! All I want to know is....
) then just keep posting this garbage!

Re: One Chance for a Clean Start
OC .. . CP clearly does that in his OP which he links. BUT and this is a big but to me . .. I see NO reference to "secret" teachings at all. Nada. If this is the point or a point of contention then this is just a misunderstanding. I can understand CP being very sensitive about this because as a man of honor and honesty I could never imagine him having any secrets from his flock . . . and if CP is thinking this is implied from the statement he qoutes from OC then I understand his energy. However, as I said I see no suggestion that anyone is willfully with holding or has any secret teachings. At least there.
What is quoted by CP from a post from OC is "There are a lot of people who don't actually believe and don't even know the official teachings of their church."
I don't find this controversial at all. Is there something I'm missing here. I don't read any implication at all that the official teachings were willfully withheld at all. This would be a different matter.
This seems way too heated and contentious to be merely precipitated from the information I have.
I'll have to go back and read more of the history behind this.Last edited by Xru; March 20th 2012 at 04:03 PM.

You could assume that but it would not be correct. We're actually talking about a different forum other than TWEB. But you won't know for sure unless as a moderator you have the power to spy on PMs.

Would it be misrepresenting you if I summarized your position as being that "exact quotes" means something different than "exact quotes"?
I think I'm done with you, CP. You get too personal, and then that gets me upset, and then things just snowball from there.
Xru has something I should respond to, though."Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.
And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in c\taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning."

Re: One Chance for a Clean Start
"There are a lot of people who don't actually believe and don't even know the official teachings of their church. And if told what their church's official teachings are, they would deny that they believe that. For example, I think a lot of Catholics believe that unbaptized infants aren't really sent to purgatory--but that is contrary to the traditional official doctrines of their church. I would bet that there are a lot of people that believe that people who haven't had a chance to hear the gospel in this life, will not be cast off forever, but that God will make provision for them to be saved. But no such teaching exists in orthodox doctrine, in fact some churches officially teach that those who had no opportunity to hear of Christ in this life WILL be cast off forever. I think there are a lot of people who are ignorant about the official doctrines of their church."
So is this the statement by OC in total that is at issue.
Where is the secret teachings?
I don't see any mention of any information being "withheld."
Whats going on?
Are you just still angry at the Mormons for kidnapping you for two days CP? I could understand that.

Well, I'll tell you what, OC .... I created a NEW thread, using your EXACT WORDS, and since your objection was my alleged misuse of ACTUAL QUOTES, you are free now to respond, because even the TITLE contains EXACT QUOTE words from your post. I apologize that I could not use your ENTIRE EXACT QUOTE as the Title, because there are, in fact, certain limitations.Would it be misrepresenting you if I summarized your position as being that "exact quotes" means something different than "exact quotes"?
Now, are you going to switch your objection to "CP was a meanie", therefore, I'm not going to respond?

Re: One Chance for a Clean Start
I've rarely seen CP get this unset. Actually, I don't think I have ever seen him get this upset. It's very unlike him. I think there is something, a great misunderstanding, or presumption somewhere that is causing a lot of trouble.
Perhaps CP thinks that the basis of LSD is just a total fraud. That's a pretty hard hearted attitude to take and a side of CP I would not expect to see unless he really really felt provoked. I've seen him this heated only one other time and that was when a woman made a heretical remark about Mary.
Probably is a good idea for a time out on this. Unfortunate to see communication break down to such an extent and so quickly too. It may be a record of all time;)

Quite right. That is the exact quote. Quite a bit different, IMO, than trying to make it look like I said "secret teachings" which is solely a term that CP came up with.
Exactly. I was only saying that there are a lot of people out there who are "ignorant" of what their church teaches, or (I'll add this) what they once taught. I did not say that certain teachings are withheld or kept "secret". I also would agree that there are many in the LDS Church who are ignorant of what the LDS Church teaches, or what their leaders once taught. This is probably willful ignorance, or just laziness, I don't know. But usually, people who sincerely investigate the LDS faith, do so because they are not satisfied with what they have been taught in other faiths, or have burning questions that they cannot satisfactorily find answers for in orthodox religions.Last edited by OtherCheek; March 20th 2012 at 04:24 PM.

I'm just tired of OC's nonsense, X... you'd have to know the history, and you're kinda sorta jumping in at the tail end of a situation, not knowing all the facts.
But, you are quite correct --- I very rarely get upset.
That would be an accurate statement. (although they might not appreciate you calling them LSDPerhaps CP thinks that the basis of LSD is just a total fraud.
)

It's not all that "quickly", X... lots of history here.Probably is a good idea for a time out on this. Unfortunate to see communication break down to such an extent and so quickly too. It may be a record of all time;)

You are quite correct, OC --- and I have re-created the thread. You should have no problem now answering the questions.
Well, that's not EXACTLY what you said, OC --- how bout we go to the thread and deal with the actual transcript, OK?Exactly. I was only saying that there are a lot of people out there who are "ignorant" of what their church teaches, or (I'll add this) what they once taught.
And I apologize for being mean to you and using a VERY uncharacteristic personal attack. Perhaps X, in his own unique way, is a calming influence!
And I have REPEATEDLY SAID, OC, that ANY TIME I see even HINT of civility in you, I can turn on the charm in a heartbeat!
Hmmmm... I just noticed that "or what they ONCE taught" (emphasis mine). How bout going to the thread and clearing it up, OK?Last edited by Cow Poke; March 20th 2012 at 04:36 PM.
