So far, being a mage is kinda fun.

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'

'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Chakrams were the only fun thing about being a mage for me.
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.

The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.

And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Reminds me a lot of Dragon Age, both in the quick-time events to finish off big enemies and in the conversation tree.

The conversation tree has been the same in the average RPG for ages. And I don't remember DA having quick-time events...

DA sucks too, there's no point in bringing it up in the first place.

Manwe, you'll have to excuse Darth, he has Bioware Nostaliga, wherein he thinks that everything Bioware has made since Baldur's Gate II is awful.

No, I liked NWN, Jade Empire and even DA2 (which I finished on Hard). I had put off playing the latter for ages due to the terrible demo but the actual game wasn't bad at all. Only real issue was the inability to play with a custom party which forced me to play with Sex and the City cast rejects instead.

Really? I've never seen you say anything positive about Jade Empire. Didn't know you changed your tune on DA2 either. And I thought NWN came out before Baldur's Gate II.

Ummmm, I'm not liking the religious undertones...

He would be a good man if he could see pas the rigidity of his faith. Mitharu embraces all, not simply those that the church deems worthy.
Unless the lady that says this turns out to be a fool canonically, I forsee another RPG with anti-religious themes like in Dragon Age.

She's butthurt about not being allowed into the clergy for being a woman and has a quest to steal their ordination manual so she can prove them wrong (I can't read the book to see who's right either). If it has anti-religious themes then they picked a pretty poor spokesperson because she comes off as a deranged lunatic.

JE was enjoyable. Not a masterpiece, but I've finished it several times and can't really complain as the combat was fun. NWN was post BG2. They were supposed to let you import BG2 characters into it as well, but then NWN switched to 3rd edition so that idea was dropped.
