Polo - You will never find a more wretched sport of scum and villainy

Seriously though, I can't really think of any sport where this seems like an issue. But if it causes YOU to stumble, it becomes a sin to you, even if it's perfectly fine for another person.

      "I hate Manwe's posts because I hate babies and America." --Augustine2004, August 6, 2011

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'

'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Mmhh, in the event where the women are exhibited as sex objects? Mmmhh I can hardly call it demeaning when said women voluntarily agree to display themselves as such (Cheerleader squads come to mind). I hardly consider it wrong. Especially since me and my former youth pastor (we be love our NFL ^^ ), amongst the discussions we have, is also which team has the more beautiful and fairer cheerleaders (Cowboys vs Redskins in our case). Said former youth pastor is a married man, and we actually have these discussions to the point that his wife butts in and also starts defending the cowboy cheerleading squad (to my astonished surprise when it first happened). Naturally, we refrain from using crude language to describe the girls (we tend to be faaarrr fear more poetic, think borderline Song of Songs).

His wife as witness, she can testify how we can observe and appreciate the cheerleaders displayed on TV, and hardly think any less of them (especially since their internal competitions in cheerleading merits admiration) as "sexual objects. It has entered into our consideration the temptation factor, but since the women who are friends with us know that we are like that (and he, me, and my friends, are men of good reputation), we can easily say that we are hardly tempted.

Those commercials were designed to stir up lust in the hearts of men. Many non-Christians see no problem with those commercials; they see nothing wrong with committing fornication or adultery in one's heart.

They would say that it would be wrong to watch those kinds of sporting events even if you have no intention of lusting after people.

How do you define what is immodest clothing? Two people can look at the same clothing and have a difference of opinion concerning whether it is immodest.
No, it's not wrong. Next question?

My most recent faith struggle is not one of intellect. I don't really do that anymore. Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don't believe in God and they can prove He doesn't exist, and some other guys who can prove He does exist, and the argument stopped being about God a long time ago and now it's about who is smarter, and honestly, I don't care. ~ Don Miller Blue Like Jazz
