I wouldn't call Chick-Fil-A "amazing."
Really, amazing just doesn't cover it.

CS Lewis, Mere ChristianityThere is no need to be worried by facetious people who try to make the Christian hope of 'Heaven' ridiculous by saying they do not want 'to spend eternity playing harps'. The answer to such people is that if they cannot understand books written for grown-ups, they should not talk about them.

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Truett Cathy already has and now I eat his food at Chick-fil-A (may peace be upon it).

We've already bashed Loftus for his whining about Licona not debating him, but he thinks Licona is afraid of him. My first thought was, "God, he can't be serious, can he?" Then, I was like, "oh yeah, it's Loftus. Of course he can."

Well he could have round 2 on the existence of God with Mike's son-in-law. He should have no problem with that. After all, I'm just an idiotic disabled failure who will fail in apologetics entirely. Dealing with me should be easy.
Pity him though if he says something like that around Mrs. Phoenix.

Not too sure what to think of this quote from my book, which quotes from Rick Bundschuh who says that the church has never been "comfortable expressing the masculinity of our Lord or dwelling on the muscular side of our faith." Yay? Nay? Amen? Not amen?

Re: February 2012 Screwballs
Another one, from Tim, a former Christian Nice Guy from Colorado: "We should be training our kids to be strong and confident for God. They should be the happiest, most loving, fierce, most kind, able, most willing people around. Instead, we are a bunch of wimps, generally speaking. We've turned Jesus into a wimp who performed magic tricks."
A-friggin-men. I'd substitute the "friggin" for a word that would get me an infraction, but it's true. I've said it before that the commandment to not take the Lord's name in vain means to dishonour his reputation, and doesn't mean to refrain from saying "Oh my God," but actually means to ruin his reputation. We have done that. I'm ashamed to call myself a Christian not because of Christ, but because of how the church has handled Christ.
What is also said is that the happiest guy I know, is a guy from work, who is by far the most corrupt man I know of. No moral values at all, he would kill if it wasn't illegal. He has no guilt about his ways; he just goes after whatever he desires and often gets what he wants; he is one of the most confident people I know of; he is well liked by many people because he is outgoing and cheerful and optimistic and engaging and fun to be around. He goes after every good-looking woman he comes across and often succeeds. He has no career plans, he just lives moment by moment, with the most immediate hedonistic outlook possible, and often gets what he wants. He is happy. Yet the church is supposed to have a greater joy and wisdom and optimism. This guy makes the church look embarrassing. And yet his parents are Christians who pray for him every night. Wow, we really suck."Everybody wants to go to heaven. They just don't want God to be there when they get there." Paul Washer

The land where taste matters IS chik-fil-a.
And of course horny doofi are prohibited. I haven't been in one yet that didn't have some cute girls working the counter, and those uniforms do flatter the figure a bit.
Manwe probably has enough chik-fil-a restraining orders to wallpaper his house."One develops a cool and ironic sense of bitter humor, as well as a bloated ego, and this personality characteristic is the defining trait of atheists ancient and modern. If there is a meek and humble atheist or sorcerer brimming with the milk of human kindness, I have yet to meet him." -John C Wright
"Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded- here and there, now and then- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as “bad luck.”"
— Robert A. Heinlein
"America's political system used to be about the pursuit of happiness. Now More and more of us want to stop chasing it and have it delivered."
"The government cannot love you, and any politics that works on a different assumption is destined for no good."
"Government money only pays for the "liberties" the government thinks you should have, and therefore it can determine how you exercise them. That turns liberties into privileges dispensed at the whim of the state."

Re: February 2012 Screwballs
Just because the guy seems happy doesn't mean that he really is. My uncle was well-liked for the same reasons - yet was married three times, all ending in failure. Phillip Yancey tells of a friend who was always confident and outgoing, etc. in What's So Amazing About Grace (IIRC) who it turns out was a closet homosexual and desperately unhappy in his Christian marriage. People like that also sometimes commit suicide - their happiness on the outside masked desperate internal struggles. Since he goes after women, he may be happy, but he's not content - and therein lies a key difference. Sin IS fun, but only for a season. It cannot bring contentment, but is always grasping for more. Joy is not just a surface happiness, but is rooted in contentment, and cannot be dampened no matter the trials we go through. And I don't see what your co-worker is doing is wise in any sense whatsoever.

Joy is also very hard to get. That peace that surpasses all understanding is not as easy as a few prayers and reading the bible. Not that anyone said it was. I think it should be the goal of every person on earth to obtain it in whatever manner they can. Constant prayer, disciplining your mind, reading the right books, surrounding yourself with decent people, reading scripture for nourishment ..have we lost the formula? If that inner peace was so easy no one would be like this man who sometimes just takes the easy way out for quick pleasure for momentary happiness vs. the hard to get lasting joy. Granted for some it is not so hard as for others I'm sure. Are they lucky? I don't know, perhaps, we already know life isn't fair.
