Anyone ever try Israeli TV to learn Hebrew?
Hey everyone, I found this forum recently and thought it would be a good place to ask a question: Has anyone tried out The Israeli Network, which is a cable/satellite package that shows Israeli TV throughout the world? I'm thinking of buying it, but I'd be curious to get any feedback first... it's something like $20 or more a month! I'm a Christian, and I thought the network would be a good way to learn Hebrew to understand the Old Testament better. I figure a place full of academics and theologians would be a good place to ask!
I think they have a large number of subscribers, so if anyone here has used it, I'd be curious to hear your thoughts:
1. Are the Israeli shows broadcasted any good?
2. Is the signal and transmission quality good?
3. Is it worth the money?
4. I heard that they translate everything with English subtitles -- do people find it's a good way to help learn Hebrew?
Any thoughts on this service would be appreciated! I don't know anyone in America or Europe who uses The Israeli Network, so I thought people here might... Thanks for any insights!
Sam

I dunno, but I don't think modern Hebrew is the same as OT Hebrew.

It seems that if offers a tool to learn Hebrew. If that's your goal, why not?The Israeli Network provides an excellent tool for Hebrew-language learning, with Hebrew shows featuring English subtitles. In addition, the network offers a complementary, comprehensive online Hebrew course that combines our Israeli-television programming with specially-designed learning materials.Micah 6:6. With what shall I come before the Lord, bow before the Most High G-d? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings, with yearling calves? 7. Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with myriad streams of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? 8. He has told you, O man, what is good, and what the Lord demands of you; but to do justice, to love loving-kindness, and to walk discreetly with your G-d.

Also, learning to speak Hebrew won't teach you how to READ Hebrew.
