Which is better the old series or the new of Doctor Who ?
Personally I like the newer series better ,but I find the older stuff interesting too. Although the newest "regeneration" isn't as good as the previous actor who played him IMO.

The writing was better in the old episodes. The special effects are better in the new.

I like them all. There were doctors here and there that I didn't really care for along the way. I didn't really care for the 6th and 7th doctors.

Re: Which is better the old series or the new of Doctor Who
I don't know too much about The Doctor (and which actors are in which order) ,but I have to say the most recent guy just isn't as good as the previous "incarnation". The story seems to have dropped since then too. The cyber-men are kind of like pre-Borg creatures (possibly where Star Trek got the idea). I like the Daleks ,but I think that maybe they could have done a little better than a trash can with a plunger on it. I wish I knew of a good place to watch them all IN ORDER. Netflix just doesn't have the older stuff in "season" ,but in "episode". The only way to tell if you are on the right track is by checking the year and actor
One of the really old ones (had 3 versions of The Doctor fighting against Omega the Time Lord) had this awful "amoeba" like creature that looked like a hole burnt through the film ,but at least the story was good (although my family would NEVER concede to that). Basically I'm the "nerd" of the family (don't like sports ,but do like sci-fi ,fantasy ,and video games.) ,but it isn't too bad ever since Big Bang Theory came out ,and being a nerd isn't as "nerdy" as it used to be.

You can look up the episodes online. The british use "series" where us Americans call it a "season" -- so Series 1 would be "season 1" - and to be more confusing, the older ones broke each "episode" up into several segments, like a miniseries.
Here is a list of everything:

Re: Which is better the old series or the new of Doctor Who
Thanks. I will definitely have to take a look there. The only real problem is finding a fast enough computer to play the episodes (my laptop is 9 years old). Yeah I noticed the "episode" thing ,but I don't think "series" ,and "season" is that confusing.
I also noticed that Doctor Who has 2 new spin-offs Torchwood (I recommend skipping certain episodes on that one due to content) ,and The Adventures of Sarah Jane Smith. Smith was one of his older companions ,and I'm surprised that it took so long for them to come up with that one (it tanked in the U.S.A. ,but I don't know how well it did in the U.K.). They actually even used the original actress who played her.

I liked torchwood for the first season, then they started pushing the whole gay thing too far and I stopped watching it.

Re: Which is better the old series or the new of Doctor Who
I thought that they were pushing it too far in the first season actually. It's the only one I have watched ,and I had to skip I believe 2 episodes. Doctor Who did have a few references (in the newer episodes ,but they were relatively few) to that issue. Just one more example of how far society is sliding downhill if you ask me. I don't have anything against people who are gay,but I wish they would stop trying to shove it in our faces every chance they get. The only problem I have is that when I say that I believe that it is an immoral activity ,I'm somehow a hateful bigot.
Anyway back on topic.
There is actually supposed to be Doctor Who video game out there ,but I haven't played it (I think it was a free download from their site). One of the more recent made for tv movies that they did called "Doctor Who and the Waters of Mars" was pretty good.

Re: Which is better the old series or the new of Doctor Who
They are both great to me for completely different reasons. Also, I think I like Eleven just as much as I liked Ten. Of course, I hated Russell T. Davies' writing and I detested Rose, so I feel like Ten suffered from that (even though I love Ten oodles).

Re: Which is better the old series or the new of Doctor Who
I actually liked Rose, she is in some of my favorite episodes.
Also, Ten had probably the best personality out of all of them that I have seen, and Eleven has had some really bad writing for the episodes(the one with a minotaur for example). Also, Ten and Eleven would still both count as the "new series". I was trying to compare 9, 10, and 11, with all of the previous Doctors(like from the 60's). What is your opinion on those?

Re: Which is better the old series or the new of Doctor Who
Ah, the first part of my post referred to the older guys. They're great, but for different reasons. I haven't seen as much of them, though. My dad's favorite is Four. I like how old Who is so relaxed about what happens to his companions as compared to new Who.

Re: Which is better the old series or the new of Doctor Who
Well, in the newer stuff the Doctor has lost so many people that he cared about, that it's starting to get to him, and I can understand why. In the Time Wars, he lost not only his family, but his entire civilization, and that I must say could really start getting to someone on an emotional level. I don't have Netflix anymore, so I don't get to watch either series anymore, but I sure would like to find a way to see some of the new stuff, and some of the old stuff that I never got to see. Perhaps the worst episode of the older stuff would be 'The Three Doctors". It wasn't that good of a story, and had AWFUL effects. Looked like the film was partially burnt for their ameoba(not sure if I spelled that right) like creature.

Yeah, I understand the reason for the difference in the way the Doctor treats others. Hahaha. The Three Doctors is on Netflix and we watched it recently. It was definitely silly.
