Re: March 2012 Screwballs
The problem is that this guy ,along with the one with his "symbolic" Adam and Cain deal ,are respected over there (I don't understand why for the first one ,but the symbolism guy can actually argue more intelligently. At least as long as he's not arguing against Christianity.),and if I ignored either of them ,then everyone else (some of the people over there are actually capable of an intelligent discussion over these topics) would think I am unable to answer their arguments. Think of the two most respected members here ,and over there those two guys have that kind of respect when it comes to the people who post there often. The only person who's work I'm acquainted with enough over here would be J.P. Holding(I know that he is respected here) ,and think how someone would be treated here if they completely ignored ALL of his arguments. This guy of course is nowhere near J.P.'s level ,but over there he has not only that kind of respect ,but unless you can point out his errors no one over there sees them ,even if they are normally more logical people.

"I hate Manwe's posts because I hate babies and America." --Augustine2004, August 6, 2011
Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Re: March 2012 Screwballs
Oh trust me, he's downright folksy (and disturbingly addicted to puns, too). His favorite person to quote when lecturing is his granny, and scarcely a cold winter morning went by last year where he didn't refer to us as "God's frozen people".
"If God has given [his people] such joy now, joy in their faith, in their hope, in love, in the truth of his scriptures, what kind of joy is he preparing for them at the end? If he feeds them like this on the journey, how will he feast them in their homeland?"--Augustine of Hippo
"It cannot be that the people should grow in grace unless they give themselves to reading. A reading people will always be a knowing people."--John Wesley
"Wherever men are still theological there is still some chance of their being logical."--G. K. Chesterton

How's he doing, by the way, since the passing of his daughter?

Re: March 2012 Screwballs
Not sure. I haven't gotten to see him at all yet this semester. As one might expect, he doesn't much emerge from his office/bookcave save for teaching classes, and I'm not in any of his at the moment. (And I think I'll see about going with Craig Keener instead for my next NT selection, since we've picked him up now.)
