As LPOT said, we are currently part of the EU, but, thankfully, John Major negotiated a single-currency opt-out at the Maastricht Treaty, so we kept the Pound and did not adopt the Euro. I wish our current PM would hurry up and make Britain leave the EU once and for all. At least that way we can keep some of our money and not get dragged down with the rest.

As for the context: we can look at that.

Deuteronomy as a whole is a book that contains sermons and instructions purportedly by Moses, delivered to Israel before they entered Canaan. Traditionalists hold that it contains the genuine words of Moses. More modernist scholars think it was produced over a period of a couple of centuries, containing northern traditions that were compiled and redacted in Judah and Babylon.

It contains the shema, which is the definitive creed of Judaism.

It's therefore an incredibly important part of Israel / Judah's self-consciousness. It was / is studied intensely by devout Jews, and it provided the central ethical teaching of Jesus: "Love YHWH your God with all your heart, and all your mind, and all your strength." It contains a hope of the restoration of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, which early Christians interpreted to be fulfilled in Jesus.

All of which is to say that it lies very close to the core of Jewish / Christian self-conceptions.

The conquest-commands that I quote are liberally sprinkled through Moses' instructions to the Israelites. They are not explicitly set aside by Jesus in the manner in which he explicitly sets aside the dietary laws, unless one counts the command to Peter to "Put away your sword." (This command is not typically taken by Christians to refer to Deuteronomy.)

They are not explicitly set aside by Paul, unless one counts his overarching vision that one should suffer with Christ and die rather than kill. (So far as I know, very few Christians outside of the pacifist tradition take this as setting aside Deuteronomy.)

So I think that it's worth asking specifically how Christians and Jews understand these verses in Deuteronomy: whether they were "inspired," or not, and if not specifically what in their own gospel "short circuits" authoritative, indiscriminate urbicide described in chapters 7 and 20.

They have a few special deals and the EU isn't do as well as some people are saying. Some of the richer countries (like the UK or Germany) are getting rather upset with having to carry the burden of the poorer ones.

It doesn't HAVE to be converted by law, but in reality, you're better of converting since I don't think many companies actually accept Euros. Most shops in the UK don't accept Scottish or Northern Irish banknotes, and some even get funny when you pay in £5 coins, or £50 notes.
