Re: March 2012 Screwballs
This responses from a YT atheist pretty much outline why the NAs are falling apart:
Which you took as an invitation to jump in and swing your books and websites around. It is clear that you, like many with religious beliefs, feel the need for everyone to agree with you. I was not looking for the person I was talking with to agree with me, I just stated my opinion on the matter. I was not looking for some large philosophical discussion on religion. I haven't read the books you have, because I don't need to. It's very simple to see that religion is a lie.
I'm not sure if it's the circular logic, the hypocrisy or the gleeful admission that he has no interest in learning that really hits gold with this one."Weinberg's statement is true as far as it goes, but it is not the whole truth. To make it the whole truth, we must add an additional clause: 'And for bad people to do good things—that [also] takes religion.' The main point of Christianity is that it is a religion for sinners. Jesus made that very clear. When the Pharisees asked his disciples, "Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?" he said, "I come to call not the righteous but sinners to repentance." Only a small fraction of sinners repent and do good things but only a small fraction of good people are led by their religion to do bad things."
-Freeman Dyson, Theoretical Physicist
"One of my friends has reminded me that there is a story in the Old Testament where God spoke through a donkey. He says, 'God spoke to Balaam through his ass, and God has been speaking through asses ever since.' "

Re: March 2012 Screwballs
I may have just turned 25 ,but I feel more like I am in my 60's. I have R.S.D. (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy a.k.a. Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) ,and it makes everything harder (and more painful). The biggest problem is that most doctors have NO IDEA what they are doing when it comes to this monstrous disease. One who said he had a "permanent cure" (there is no cure) ,made things worse. Apparently there is no "standard form of treatment" ,so basically it doesn't matter how much worse they make you. There is nothing you can do about it if you don't find a doctor that actually does know what they're doing. The guy basically cut me in half ,and took out a big chunk of nerves (it was called a Total Lumbar Sympathectomy). I was "cured" for less time than it took to recover from the operation. Not only that when we told him that it came back he said that it was "impossible". Not sure even a Platinum Screwball covers one like that. 13 years since that "procedure". Luckily I DID find a doctor that DOES know what he's doing.

Facebook commenter:
A fetus is an occupant of someone else's body. An infant is not. Pretending they're morally the same, even if they are developmentally the same (or close to it), is completely stupid.
That said, I don't see anything morally wrong with letting a severely disabled baby die or killing it. I'm talking near-vegetable state, not things like Cerebral Palsy or Down Syndrome.

Anti-screwball to my counsellor who said that he loves reading the Bible from a sociological standpoint and sees a whole bunch of problems with church using this approach. I mentioned the Context Group and a couple scholars and books like DaSilva's Honor Kinship.. and his eyes lit up and he said he would check them out, and when I told him I might go to school to learn Context Group stuff he gave a lot of encouragement. He is also pretty knowledgeable on stuff like church history too. Great to see another Christian in a Christian profession who is actually knowledgeable on these things.

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

CS Lewis, Mere ChristianityThere is no need to be worried by facetious people who try to make the Christian hope of 'Heaven' ridiculous by saying they do not want 'to spend eternity playing harps'. The answer to such people is that if they cannot understand books written for grown-ups, they should not talk about them.

The video for Dr. Craig's talk on the resurrection at Southampton Guildhall is now up. Anti-screwball to Dr. Craig, but screwball for the video taking so long to be released!
The Q&A starts around 40-44 minutes... but wait, who is the handsome fellow who ask Dr. Craig about the social background of Jesus' burial? :-pCrab Battle
