Top ten 90s albums.
It's a bit sad that the 90s are the new 80s, but it had to happen sometime. Today, I was driving about in my car and listening to some old albums .... which interestingly enough is also becoming an archaic concept.
I started thinking about the best 90s albums.
Here's my list, in no particular order.
1. Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
2. Weezer's self Titled.
3. NIN - The downward Spiral
4. Tool - Aenema
5. Radiohead - OK Computer
6. Soundgarden - Superunknown
7. Pearl Jam - Ten
8. Beastie Boys - Ill communication
9. Nirvana - Unplugged
10. massive attack - Mezzanine
Thos are, at least, my favorites. What are yours?Dropping a few Eschatology Bombs, or "Let's think before we endorse another way."

I didn't really listen to much in the 90's but I would have to put Green Day's "Dookie" up there pretty high.

Ace of Base - "The Bridge" is one of my favorite albums to this day. I don't really have 9 others, as I had no job and not much allowance in the '90s.
Here I am!

Were I to assemble my list, I would definitely include "Fundamental Elements of Southtown" by P.O.D. within my Top 10. The music of that album really hit me hard in my heart, definitely being a big influence in the formation of my character in terms of musical inspirations for my persona.
Though I am no fan of Nirvana, I do recognize their big merit in the 90's, and they are deserving of belonging in any top 10 list of 90's music.Last edited by Andius; March 14th 2012 at 12:50 AM.

I can't really comprise a list, but if I did I would definitely include Foo Fighters "The Colour and the Shape" album.

The only thing I really have that was done in the 90's is Alice Cooper's, "The Last Temptation," which is pretty awesome. Everything else- however- is either a Compilation Album or Made in a different time period.

As much as I want to like Pearl Jam (since I love the whole grunge movement), Eddie Vedder's extreme pro-choice advocacy leaves a very sour taste in my mouth. I'm on Team Soundgarden (and yes, I'm aware that they probably have those connections as well, but Vedder emphasizes that political view above almost all others).

the only popular musical albums i've ever bought in my life were, Sade, Beatles One and i think a U2 album for my husband and that was years ago. I pretty much don't listen to radio and when i do it's b/c my husband, who listens to music all the time, has it on. I'm the type of person to whom music is mostly a background noise I don't pay attention to unless it's 1) offensive to my ears and I take notice and shut it off or 2)has a great melody/voice attached and I enjoy it for the moment but don't follow up with trying to find the artist or buy the song. My mother is one who always leaves the radio on low volume just to hear something in the background so she's like my husband in that they like the noise of music except he's specific in his tastes and has albums etc...wherein she just needs any noise to fill the quiet.
My husband does find that strange. One day he became upset when I told him to change the station in the car because I didn't like the beat of a song he was playing and he asked "What music DO you like?". We've been married 12 years. However, when I am in the mood for some background noise I do have cd's of Zen meditation and one entitled Chinese songs that I love, it's relaxing and there are no lyrics, just intrumentals. I'm pretty much always in the mood to hear those but I prefer silence always. Heck, i don't even like answering the phone in my house because it's a distraction from the peace I need. (Whereas my husband on the other hand runs for the phone).
so basically i didn't contribute anything useful to your thread but it was a great outlet for me to put into words what i've always wondered about, which is my weird lack of not caring for music much. thank you and sorry to derail.

My most recent faith struggle is not one of intellect. I don't really do that anymore. Sooner or later you just figure out there are some guys who don't believe in God and they can prove He doesn't exist, and some other guys who can prove He does exist, and the argument stopped being about God a long time ago and now it's about who is smarter, and honestly, I don't care. ~ Don Miller Blue Like Jazz
