Re: Ehrman's "Did Jesus Exist"
So was Evangelion. He and his brother fortigurn (who does use the same username there) are both Christadelphians. They're a fringe cult that among other things denies the Trinity. I trounced Evangelion some years ago on the topics of Wisdom Christology (in which his main tactic was to deny, deny, deny the clear parallels between Wisdom texts and the NT), as well as on the authenticity of Mark 16:9-20 (in which his main tactic was to quote fringe authors, and crap from obscure 1800s sources). They're both chiefly best at overestimating their own genius.
That would be also why Forty doesn't want to reply to my Trinity stuff.

Crab Battle
noun
Words uttered to incite an all in brawl. Whoever says the words 'Crab Battle' will usually be spear tackled to the ground by anyone else present, and all parties will then engage in a fight to the death.
Reality untouchable, transparent, invisible to our fixed, restricted fields of vision. Existence taken for granted, absolute. Possessed, owned, controlled by the common sense-infected rational gaze, onward forever we walk among the ignorant. Never stray from the common lines.

Re: Ehrman's "Did Jesus Exist"
Well, this is a good place to note...we have:
On one side: Richard Carrier and a handful of fanatic followers/mythicists like Ben "Moron Error" Schuldt, Vridar, Earl Doherty, and little Stevie Carr
On the other side, laying in to Carrier, I've noted:
Bart Ehrman (leading)
R. Joseph Hoffmann
Maurice Casey (ahead)
James McGrath
Chris Hallquist
"AIGBusted"
Thom Stark (! -- yes, he's going after Carrier's claim of a dying Messiah in Judaism before Jesus....unwittingly arguing on MY side re TIF!)
DJ (Loftus) is begging for peace and staying on the sidelines. That's one of the smartest things he's done in years.
Please note if you want to add any names to either list.

I'm just hoping it gets turned into a major motion picture. This is too enjoyable to miss.

CS Lewis, Mere ChristianityThere is no need to be worried by facetious people who try to make the Christian hope of 'Heaven' ridiculous by saying they do not want 'to spend eternity playing harps'. The answer to such people is that if they cannot understand books written for grown-ups, they should not talk about them.

***Rest in peace, Curtmudgeon!***
"I hate Manwe's posts because I hate babies and America." --Augustine2004, August 6, 2011
Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'
The Words of Húrin and Morgoth, "The Children of Húrin" by J.R.R. Tolkien

Did you get a chance to have a word with Carrier about these issues at/before/after the debate, JP?
