Wife suffering from "empty nest" syndrome!
Greeting Brothers and Sister - Our twins Emily and Mat left home today and my wonderful wife is suffering from empty nest syndrome. She's nervous, rather irritable and at the same time somewhat depressed.
These are our only children (I have a son by another marriage 23yo or something).
It was wonderful to have them with us but know they are on their own, God Bless them.
Little Emily and Mat were born about three weeks ago, in a small nest out on one of our hanging plants. We watched them grow every day. Lord willing they will visit my wife and I in the back yard like all the rest of the humming birds!

i was preparing to get all teary eyed at this story thinking of my own 'babies' who are growing up so quickly.
as a kid, my mom would feed the birds rice or dry bread every morning, and they came back EVERY MORNING at the SAME TIME like clockwork. I know there are tips online and books on how to make your backyard attractive to birds. something about water and certain types of plants. good luck.

GOOD idea . .. we also had some kind of brush bird choose a planter for a nest in our back yard. Tragically predators started raiding the nest so we had to put a screen over it that was just big enough for the parents to get in but nothing else. We managed to save one at least.

Aww wow, Xru. This is awful. But I've got a suggestion.
Get a cat.
And then maybe little Emily and Mat will never leave again. There is no lao tzu.

I assume that LT is several evolutionary steps ahead of all the rest of us and so usually speaks at several thousand IQ level. That thing on the Boomer he sailed on when he got that dose of 101,012 rem or bout ten minutes.
I think it accelerated his evolution of something scientific or something . . . he doesn't glow anymore I hear.

On a side note, my wife works in the world of Academia - Texas A&M University - amongst a bunch of really highly educated people. She is constantly amazed at their inability to communicate with their direct reports. It's like they speak EduSpeak or something, and they get frustrated because nobody understands them. At the same time, she has to edit a lot of what they say because she does the department's newsletter. She is constantly having to correct their grammar and try to make their run-on sentences "make sense".
It's always been "one of those things" with me that, if somebody is really smart, you'd THINK they'd be smart enough to communicate in a manner which would effectively transfer their intended message to their target audience.
I believe Jesse has shared some interesting correspondence from "academia" from another perspective.
