Some of you know some of my stories like the Biker Dude.
A lot of great and wonderful things happened at a Church I pastored back in 1993-2003. I like to say, when I got there, we experienced a year of nuclear war, two years of cold war, then the Spirit broke out and began to bless our socks off.
One of the "marks" (or maybe fruit) of that little time of Revival was that we experienced, in very short succession, the Salvation of 4 people over the age of 90. (We saw over 20 "unchurched" people saved and baptized, but the "old folks getting saved" was rather remarkable) The first one, after I baptizing him, I was explaining to the Church how incredibly unusual it was for a person of that age to come to know Christ. Usually, by then, he's heard all the sermons, been preached at, fussed at, condemned, forgiven.... he's made up his mind. But, as I was explaining that to the Church, another man a couple rows from the front began weeping, and I stopped and asked him what was wrong. He - a 92 year old - said, "I want to get saved". And then, within a few weeks, 2 more.
Well, in my current Church, we've been experiencing a very good spirit, and a sense of anticipation, as we've seen God doing wonderful things. I have a man in his mid to late 60's who just surrendered to the ministry. A couple weeks ago, I asked him to preach. Last Sunday, he did, and I led the singing. He preached on soul-winning. At the end of the service, a 90 year old man - fairly new to our Church - came forward and asked Jesus to Save him.
Interestingly enough, the man who used to be my music director in the other Church was visiting our Church that morning with his family. He had come to hear me preach, not knowing I had done the switch with my music leader. After Church, David came over to me and said, "you know, this feels EXACTLY like it felt as we broke into Revival at [the other Church]. I looked around, and said, "yeah.... it really does".
God is at work. I just pray I have the wisdom to stay out of His way.
