JPHO, I love it! Well, I've always be a bit uncomfortable with JPH's style, but the fact is I've rarely disagreed with him. So oh well ;-)

If you ask me, the vinyl collecting subculture is a holdover from the punk scene that never really abandoned the medium. I worked in an old hippy vinyl record shop in the early 90s, but he sold mostly stuff from the 60s and 70s, and made more money on record shows than in the shop, but friends of mine in punk bands around the same time were pressing new (usually colored) vinyl all the time, and you could always get your hands on it at local punk shows. It was cheap to make a 7" and it looked cool.

Somehow the punk rock vinyl holdover worked itself into the mainstream world, and by the mid-90s, when I started working at a big time corporate record shop that sold mostly tapes and cds, they were selling the occasional vinyl record album as a collectors edition for whatever hip band was pushing it. Fast-forward 20 years (jeez, has it been that long?) and the combination of vintage nostalgia, the punk holdover, and the idea of getting a material item from your favorite band in your hands (as opposed to a digital download) is whats really pushing the market, and its growing too.

Man, that was completely off topic, but its a topic I like so...
Still off topic, but when aren't we? I have a 3 record set of 45s that I found, quite by accident in an "antique" store. I can't remember what songs they are, but they are piano music by Jose Iturbi that are translucent red.

I alway had a penny handy, mainly for a few childrens records that got a little beat up. However, I still have a lot of the records that I had when I was a kids, as well as some that were my dad's before I was born. Dad was very, very, VERY clear about how they should be handled, as a result they are still in good shape even though some are nearly 70 years old.

Be careful, because the day you do happen to disagree with him....JP Holding writing in Post #2 of this thread and on will follow...

By the way, look what he says on one of his pages:

Over the years this site has deemed it necessary to use harsh language as a shaming device, in accord with indisputable Biblical principles. We reserve such harshness only for those who show themselves by their actions and words to be a demonstrably negative influence in or on the Body of Christ.
Anyone who can read the first 10 or so posts of mine will see that this is most certainly not true. Holding has problems, that's for sure, and he's an embarassment.

Obviously you're his friend so he won't do that, but look at how he started acting in the beginning merely because he thought I was an atheist/skeptic. Imagine a skeptic who was somewhat interested in religious debates would argue with him. I've seen countless people on youtube who post more or less honest questions/critiques and his answers are completely unChristian. Obviously he's not going to say stuff like that to you Nick.

Re: cujo006's Rebuttal to JP Holding Re: Jephthah

He's whining because he wrote me an email pretending that none of this ever happened.

Sorry, chump. As I just said in a reply, unless you have either 1) done the study BronzeArcher recommended or 2) changed your views on the Jephthah issue -- either one -- we have nothing to discuss, and I am certainly not going to accept any messages from you as someone who mangles the truth and should not even be performing apologetics.

AP and I do disagree on things, but he at least is 1) informed in his disagreement, or 2) is willing to admit when he needs to do further study. Same with me. You are neither. And you also have a substantial record of badmouthing me behind my back (as at CARM). I also do not truck with those who skulk.

      http://www.tektoonics.com

Due to rampant stupidity by Skeptics, and time issues, I'm only going to be on TWeb in my own (tektonics.org) section from now on. Deal with it.

I was waiting for this one. I sent him an email regarding this article: http://www.tektonics.org/af/cryday.html , pointing out that there is somewhat similar language in Joshua 6:12-17, and what does he write back: "Aren't you cujo006". Wow, does that make him feel superior because he found out something about an online stranger he doesn't know. The mark of a petty man indeed.

I don't know, you should probably judge yourself. I tried to do an informed critique of your obviously flawed Judges 11 interpretation and all I got was a cyber-stalker posting stuff that I said on another forum over a year ago. Try to stay on-topic man. As for skulking, I don't see why that should be a concern of yours. And it's one thing to badmouth you, it's another for me to post something true about you that's bad.

      P.S. I'll check out the study bronze-ager recommended, I didn't see it.

Nowhere have I seen one of your points refute mine without my answering it. I'll check out what BronzeAger recommended, but my points still stand with your not-so-realistic interpretations answered. I don't see why that disqualifies me from anything. As for mangling the truth, you can see your own posts, specifically the one where you claimed I was dishonest when I would still remain a Christian even if the evidence pointed against it (which it doesn't).

He won't admit that he starts off in an unChristian manner with 99% of his opponents, as he did here, and that's the whole story. It has nothing to do with the soundness or validity of my arguments, as anyone can plainly see from the posts. And that's how an ignorant man functions.

Then it's not based on disagreement as you claim. Congratulations on refuting your own position. Note this. Not only do I disagree with JPH on some issues, when I have thought him wrong, I have before corrected him on saying something incorrect when it has been in my field. He has no problem whatsoever accepting it.

If you read it in context, you'd see I didn't refute my point at all. It's based on disagreement when he's not your friend, if you will. You need to merely try to understand the context.
