I have a video on my channel asking atheists what they are talking about when they say religion attacks science, holds up progress and is trying to put us back in the dark ages. As expected the only examples I get are young earth creationism (which doesn't deny science outright) and the story of Galileo. Today a stupid fundy atheist going byPurportedlyMagicJew left the phrase "Eppur si muove" on my video, which is what Galileo supposedly said at his trial. A few seconds of research would reveal that it is doubtful he even said that, but we know how little research fundy atheists do. So I did what is very predictable for me. I directed him to J.P's "Miss Dusters" video. His reply:



What I find really ironic is that he is behaving in pretty much the same way as he thinks the Roman Catholic Church behaved towards Galileo. He makes a claim. Evidence is presented against his claim. He refuses to look at the evidence and be open to correction.

What is funny is how they condemn Christians for not supporting science and fail to figure out that the church was supporting the science of it's era in condemning Galileo.

Many fundies are, plus this one seems to have an obsession with trying to make Christians look bad over facts. Child molesters exist in about every field out there, doctors, lawyers, members of the military, pilots, etc have been caught molesting children, so why doesn't he go around and insult everybody in those fields?

Well he says he has a personal principle of not watching censored videos.

I wonder what arbitrary moral value that would be based on. I think such as he at least say that because it stings their egos for it to be suggested to them that things they say may not actually be worth hearing.

No one can accuse me of being afraid of criticism or not caring about free speech. It is considered bad form on Youtube not to have a completely open comment policy. I understand your reasons for having your policy but you're always going to be accused of censorship unfortunately.

I may have a hard time living with that. I wonder, if that's felt the same way though outside of FA circles, or if other circles (say, musicians -- random group selected) and their YT community feel any differently. There are so many types there that I can't imagine that sentiment being universal.

These people do some serious business, so it's easy to see why they don't want to deal with idiots dropping and leaving f-bombs and such to be cleaned up later -- same as I don't care to deal with it. I wonder if Mr. PurportedlyIntelligentAtheist would go whining about that.

Quite so. Actually I should mention that even I make an exception when it comes to some Holocaust memorial videos I have on my channel. Those videos are set to approval only because I don't want to allow Holocaust deniers and other antisemitic low lives to comment on there. It would be upsetting to some of the people who might be viewing.

Watergate is fair to mention, but should be the backdrop of a story of redemption. Christ truly can change hearts.
