Re: Obama and the Supreme Court
a knowledgeable person is not necessarily intelligent... which is why i typically pronounce/spell both educated and intelligent as edumacated and intelagent respectively. it is very possible for one person to know everything (not literally) there is to know about the universe and not be able to piece together that its offensive to step on another's shoes.

All that is gold does not glitter,
not all those who wander are lost;
the old that is strong does not wither,
deep roots are not reached by the frost.
just because you can't see him, doesn't mean he isn't there!
even steel must be put to the flame, else it will remain weak and easily removed.
i find it amazing that a person who requests another to demonstrate that they are not terrorists by some small action like making the claim they are not terrorists, becomes terrorized himself, and not by the terrorists or even the proposed terrorists; but by those who seek tolerance and understanding. i believe that fits the definition of ironic doesn't it?

Re: Obama and the Supreme Court
"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

Re: Obama and the Supreme Court
probably because we don't share the manufactured outrage at Obama for his little gaffe.
I mean really -- if Obama was as horrible as the Right makes him out to be, there'd be plenty of real issues to complain about.
But when Obama starts complaining about the Supreme Court -- the Right starts howling "Trademark Infringement!" -- complaining about activist judges is their schtick, after all.
But let's not make this about me
The topic is Obama, after all...

Re: Obama and the Supreme Court
Thing is that many on the left are making Obama out to be about as bad as the right is making him out to be, particularly his foreign policy and his treatment of the Constitution... much more so than we saw those on the right do of Bush. In fact, we're seeing a third movement sort of split down the middle forming and separating themselves from partisan politics (a la OWS movement, Ron Paul supporters, et al). Either this means that those on the left are much smarter and more honest than those on the right, or Obama is just that much worse.

Re: Obama and the Supreme Court
might you be talking about all the wars that we are actively *still*/started engaging in?
might you be talking about all the people who are not on health care?
might you be talking about all the people who are not working?
might you be talking about all the soldiers dying under obama's watch while hes on vacation/playing basket ball?
might you be talking about the crime rate across the united states?
might you be talking about the 'atrocities' being committed in Guantanamo Bay?
might you be talking about how obama and his VP never seem to say the same things?
might you be talking about obama's promotion of 'shovel ready jobs' and crossed off the *planning* of a massive pipeline?
might you be talking about who the president associates with and that he continually insults our allies?
might you be talking about how this president has gone on more vacations than any other president to date during his presidency?
might you be talking about his general disrespect to the supreme court?
should i keep going?Last edited by odis; April 19th 2012 at 06:30 PM.

Re: Obama and the Supreme Court
I think what we're seeing is a lot of disappointment coming from many former Obama supporters -- they expected him to accomplish a lot more than he has.
I noticed that among those separating themselves from partisan politics, you omitted the Tea Party. For good reason, I suspect.

In all fairness, did Obama cause these issues?
No, I might be talking about something which actually matters.might you be talking about how obama and his VP never seem to say the same things?
If you're referring to Keystone, that's still on the table, last I checked.might you be talking about obama's promotion of 'shovel ready jobs' and crossed off the *planning* of a massive pipeline?
Which allies might those be? We have so few these days.might you be talking about who the president associates with and that he continually insults our allies?
No, I'm talking about something honest and accurate.might you be talking about how this president has gone on more vacations than any other president to date during his presidency?
After 31 months in office, Obama has taken a total of 61 vacation days. At similar points in their presidencies, Bush had taken 180, Reagan 112, and Clinton set the workaholic's record with only 28.

Of course, if you're referring to just his first year in office, here's a site for you:

Nice try, though.
Again, I'm talking about actual issues. Of course, if you care about the Supreme Court, the Right might revoke your membership card:Might you be talking about his general disrespect to the supreme court?
