Forty Days...for Choice?
Yep. Check out their list of things to pray for:
linky to PDF
And who are the charming folks behind this?
http://www.faithaloud.org/faith/index.php
What an...interesting take on prayer, morality and ethics, and things like that. They also have some signs for sale for folks who 'defend' clinics from pro-life sidewalk folks.
Seems like they're based out of St. Louis--I wonder if they would be up for a little debate some time that I'm the neighborhood?
So aside from the 'yuck' factor, their list of things to pray for(!), I'm thinking that list would be easy to turn around and use against them.Last edited by Rayado; April 11th 2012 at 02:34 PM.

Re: Forty Days...for Choice?
In its defense, there are a number of things listed that aren't bad things to pray for, but overall it feels like praying for their own agenda rather than seeking God's agenda. For instance, it's not a matter of whether they should feel shame for doing something shameful, but to comfort them so that they don't feel shame. I've heard people pray, "Please bless this junk food to my body's use" and it makes me want to facepalm.

Re: Forty Days...for Choice?
Yep--and those are things that pro-lifers can really jump on and say "I agree wholeheartedly with X, Y, and Z...but here's why they are in the moral province of the pro-life position instead of those advocating abortion." In fact I may pass this along to our local 40 Days for Life folks so that they can know about it--because if this is the message that we might be faced with, we will be ready to immediately respond.
Okay, I finally have a blog.

That is such a mockery of what Christianity stands for. It takes good principles and spoils them beyond recollection. To quote C.S Lewis on this "Badness is just spoiled goodness" and that is what this is, spoiled goodness

Re: Forty Days...for Choice?
Seems that they are shocked, shocked that pro-lifers may have an issue with their stance. They took to Twitter to announce a new funding campaign that every time they are "attacked" by pro-life groups or people, that people can pledge to donate money to their fund so they can pay for abortions.
I asked them (politely) how they defined an attack, and where they drew the line between disagreement and attack. No response...yet.
Okay, I finally have a blog.

Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'

Re: Forty Days...for Choice?
Prayer #38--for a 'cloud of peace' to descend on abortion clinics--makes me think they've never actually been to an abortion clinic. The only other time I've felt so incredibly freaked out as I was standing in front of our local abortion clinic for 40 Days for Life was when I stood in the gas chambers at Dachau. They are anything but peaceful places and no amount of prayer is going to fix that.
Okay, I finally have a blog.
