Dear Stumpie,

I have something you may want to print off and give to your friend. I wrote it quite a few years ago but its message is timeless. I have titled it “The Journey of a Miracle” hopefully it isn’t too long.

Standing at the gate dividing time and eternity the Son of God waits patiently for a voice from someone from anyone who is alone, who finds the pressures of life are overwhelming. Standing at the gate dividing time and eternity the Son of God listens for the beating of a troubled heart, waiting ever poised to touch a life, to fill it with the miracle of his presence. Suddenly his heart begins racing faster and faster as he hears a faint whisper and listens more intently than ever before. Then with a tremendous amount of patience, the Son of God anticipates even savors the moment of contact. Patiently all heaven waits to rush to the aid of a fallen comrade.

Standing at the gate dividing time and eternity a child of God waits patiently for the pressures of life to ease. Standing at the gate dividing time and eternity a child of God begins to feel the anxiety of dwindling patience, begins to feel alone. In an act of desperation, a tiny voice squeaks out a feeble plea for help and the anxiety eases. Standing at the gate dividing time and eternity a child of God waits patiently for a miracle.

The journey of a miracle hidden behind the mysticism of the unexplained, often sought as an easy way out, as a way of circumventing the pressures of life. The journey of a miracle does not begin with a feeble plea to help ease the pressures and pains of life. The journey of a miracle is not a journey for those whose faith is weak. Miracles are heaven’s ministry to those who see the things of earth as powerless to help them. The journey of a miracle is heaven’s response to those who don’t seek to escape but to journey through the shadows of life.

Standing at the gate dividing time and eternity the power of faith touches the Son of God and suddenly he reaches out and time comes to an end and the eternal Jesus envelopes the one who has exercised a particle of faith and mysteriously the two become one. And the journey of a miracle is complete. In less than a heartbeat, the mysterious union is over yet the blessing remains and the Spirit lingers. Sometimes in the aftermath of the miracle is a physical healing, sometimes relationships are mended, sometimes the blind see, the lame walk, sometimes there is physical death, sometimes financial burdens are eased, sometimes a little goes a long way, and sometimes none of those happen. But the journey of a miracle isn’t a measure of physical blessings. In fact, it isn’t a measure of anything it is the infusion of Jesus’ life into yours.

Standing at the gate dividing time and eternity the Son of God waits patiently for a single voice from someone from anyone who is alone, who finds the pressures of life are too overwhelming. Standing at the gate dividing time and eternity the Son of God waits patiently for your voice. Why keep him waiting?
