A Glory Seed Devotional
Emails to Stumpie…

Dear Stumpie,
I am glad you asked about miracles, Stumpie because they have been on my mind lately. And I have to admit that there have been many times when I have told myself and reminded myself that miracles are for everyone but my family. There have been occasions when I have asked God for something good to come to my family only to find another “rough stretch of road” in our pathway. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if you’d email me back and say, “Yeah, there have been a few times when that’s been true with me too.”
But lately the Holy Spirit has been attempting to take me to a deeper level in understanding miracles. And while I have been doing my best to cooperate sometimes, I can be pretty thick headed, but praise God because he is far more persistent than I am and what I am discovering is what lies below the surface of miracles. I am also discovering it’s something that has always been there but I have a tendency to see what miracles accomplish more than, why we need them in the first place because the bottom line is we need God! Our basic need is God it is not what God can do for us or what God is for us, we need to be in God’s presence.
Have you figured out what miracles really are yet? The miracle is we can be present with God and God can be present with us because of Jesus. Jesus is the greatest miracle. Jesus once said, “Come to me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest.” What I have come to understand from that goes something like this, “Come to me all who are heavy laden and through me you will rest with the Father.”
Healings and all the other things associated with miracles are not the real miracle they are simply “fringe benefits” of the real miracle of “Bonding with God”. It is the Apostle Paul and the Holy Spirit who me are teaching me God’s response to the need for fringe benefits of miracles, “My Grace is sufficient for you.”
If you got God – you got all you need! And that is the real miracle. (Now if I can remember that when the going gets rough, “Holy Spirit, HELP!”)
God’s Favor and Blessings,
Gary
