Hi
Goodness comes in degrees. There is perfect goodness; then there is your everyday goodness, which doesn't claim to reach the same heights. When people say about someone, "He's a good person", they aren't saying he's a saint, or that he's sinless, or that he's never done a wrong thing in his life. They are simply saying that he is above-average in the goodness stakes, more good than not, etc. When you say someone is a good person, you don't mean that their hearts are pure and absolutely devoid of any evil, however slight; you are simply saying that the good in them outweighs the evil overall; you aren't saying that evil is completely absent.
But when Christians quote "No one is good but God alone", "There is no one who is righteous, not one", etc., they mean "good" in the sense of perfectly good, being of the maximum possible degree of goodness, completely devoid of any evil, no matter how minor, etc.
So of course many atheists are good people in the everyday sense. And I don't think any atheist would claim to be good in the maximal sense in which the word is used in Christian theology.
Regards, Zack

I was an atheist, but I got better.
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

I've put all the stupid and reprehensible atheists on ignore, so technically all the atheists whom I see on TWeb are intelligent and respectable. :
