Do Mormons consider Carthage Jail their "Calvary"?

I've read a number of Mormon Testimonies* online. Particularly some who have been to Carthage Jail for the tour.

Some of them seem to equate that place to "Calvary", where "brother Joseph shed his blood for us"?

Is this the sentiment of Tweb Mormons? Or would you say this is "over the top".

(*"Testimonies" might not be the best choice of words, since it appears that Mormons use this word differently than the rest of us - but I think you get the point.)
      2 Tim 2:1-2

Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

No event in the history of the world compares with what took place in Gethsemane and on Calvary (Golgotha). However, to LDS, Joseph Smith died as a martyr at Carthage Jail after establishing the Church of Jesus Christ once again upon th earth. LDS believe the Jesus Christ was the most import person to ever walk the face of the earth. But Joseph Smith was a great prophet who performed a great work for the Lord Jesus Christ, and sealed his testimony with his blood. We worship Jesus Christ as our Redeemer and Savior and honor Joseph Smith as the great Latter-Day prophet that he was.

So, if I could provide some quotes from prominent Mormons which seem to indicate that "Carthage Jail" was, indeed, the Mormon "Calvary" -- you all would gladly pronounce them nutcases, yes?

If they only seem to indicate that, then the indication could be explained away as misinterpretation.

Good point... how bout if they actually say "Carthage Jail is our Calvary"? (those very words)

(and I have to look each time to make sure I'm not typing "cavalry"!!! )

Probably the only way you will know for sure what our response will be, is if you actually provide the quotes and then you see our responses after we have studied them in context.
"I think we may accept it as a rule that whenever a person's
religious conversation dwells chiefly, or even frequently,
on the faults of other people's religions, she/he is in a bad condition."
      -C.S. Lewis (Collected Letters Vol. 3 p. 209).
