Re: Save Money on your Internet
When I bought my Kia Sportage last year, I had a friend who works for Kia corporate and he gave me his employee discount. I went to a local dealer and told them what I wanted (basic model without all the frills and dealer addons) and when the dealer found out the price (it was pretty good) she refused to sell it to me at the employee discount (it's voluntary for each dealership) - so I said, fine, I will just have to go to another dealership and left. They called me back later and wanted to "give me a deal" and I said I already had a deal and you didn't want to work with me. They hemmed and hawed a while and complained it was under their cost and all that junk. I told them "Look, if you sell me the car at the employee discount, not only do you get all of my future service business, but you will be getting great word of mouth advertising when I tell everyone about where I got my great new car" - They seemed to like that, and sold me the car at the price I wanted. I later found out it really was under their cost by around $1,500, but Kia reimburses them the difference.

oh and when I went to get the car, they had "accidentally" stuck on the dealer add-on package: mudflaps, cargo net and tray, and some other crap that added up to something like $3000. They offered to sell it to me at "cost" of only a few hundred dollars . I said thanks, but I ain't paying for it. You can leave it on or take it off, your choice. They left it all on.

Just yesterday I called DirecTV because my bill had crept up again, and it's only my wife and myself. I told them it was too much money, and the lady very patiently went through my bill, and offered a reduction of $20 / month for 12 months.
That's a savings of $240 A YEAR for a 10 minute phone call!

Hey maybe I can go to my preacher and tell him I think paying 10% is a bit high and I have been shopping around for another religion.

I finally called AT&T to have my home phone disconnected, but KEEP my internet.... the only calls I get on the home phone are salesmen and politicians. In the process, I asked what I was paying for internet (I knew) and when she told me, I said, "wow, that's HIGH"..... she said, well, we can cut that down to 24.95, and I said "that's better". Then she said that requires a new modem for $149 and a $49 change fee.
I balked at that, and she said, "Well, I see you are an excellent customer, so those fees will be waved, of course".
I'm using magic jack to provide home phone service now on my fast internet!
And saving 80 BUCKS A MONTH!!!!
