A Glory Seed Devotional
Do not miss the mark…
“When they had all had enough to eat, Jesus said to his followers, “Gather the leftover pieces of fish and bread so that nothing is wasted.” So they gathered up the pieces and filled twelve baskets with the pieces left from the five barley loaves. When the people saw this miracle that Jesus did, they said, “He must truly be the Prophet who is coming into the world.” Jesus knew that the people planned to come and take him by force and make him their king, so he left and went into the hills alone.” (John 6:12-15 NCV)
The people missed the mark! The people ate bread and fish in the very presence of the SON of GOD, the “Wonderful Counselor, Powerful God, Father Who Lives Forever, Prince of Peace. Power and peace will be in his kingdom and will continue to grow forever.” (Isaiah 9:6-7) And they called him a prophet and wanted to make him their king! Do you know what Israel did to prophets that had come to bring God’s message to them? Yup! That’s right they killed the prophets.
There was a time when I missed the mark. While I’ve never thought of Jesus as a prophet there has times when I refused to allow him to go from my brain and into my heart. But I am thankful that Jesus’ persistence overwhelmed my lack of vision because now he is in my heart and I am glad to report I am in his heart. But my relationship with Jesus goes deeper than that because while we live in each other’s heart I’ve surrendered mine to his. Jesus is now number ONE and we now walk through life side-by-side and sometimes when life gets stormy and difficult Jesus takes the lead and even carries me for short distances. And it doesn’t get any better than that!
Jesus is not a prophet! Jesus is the one who gives the prophecy! Jesus didn’t come into the world to reveal God’s biography! Jesus came into the world AS God’s autobiography. And Jesus sends the Holy Spirit into OUR lives in order to become God’s autobiography on OUR hearts. The Holy Spirit comes into our lives to show us/help us live our lives as Jesus lived his. Currently I am writing an article for my blog and websites titled “Live as Jesus lived” and I am discovering that even with the help of the Holy Spirit it is no easy task but because Jesus is more than a prophet, because I have not missed the mark WE are inching my way toward the Light.
Are you coming with us?
Grace and PEACE!
Gary
