Not only is this ECF professing the belief that our souls are eternal (the soul has neither beginning nor end); he is also professing a belief in reincarnation. If he believed in reincarnation, I think this would cover a continual learning process from one life to another. Thus, I don't think he had a problem with believing that a person still has a chance; nay, many chances, to accept the Gospel.
Jo why would anyone take your word on what the Eastern Orthodox believe? You haven't gotten one thing right about the Catholics so far.

Why don't we let One Bad Pig speak for the Eastern Orthodox, since he IS one? And he has already told you that the EO doesn't and never did believe in a chance to accept the gospel in the afterlife.

      No, we don't.

Slight problem: Origen never said that. He did believe in the eternal pre-existence of the soul, but that belief was based on philosophical speculation, not scripture. He also speculated about reincarnation of a sort (more on that at the link). Origen, however, has never been considered normative of EO beliefs; in fact, several beliefs attributed to him were anathematized at the Fifth Ecumenical Council in AD 553.
