What a bunch of nonsense. Anyone can participate in the occupy movement, there is no membership, they don't check peoples credentials, and I'm sure there are a few wing nuts out there just as there are in the tea party movement who would prefer violent tactics. (Ted Nugent ring a bell anyone) Probably not, unlike the occupy movement, who distance themselves from these people, you mostly defend the nuts that pop up on your idealogical side of the aisle.

I do find it rather entertaining that some people were calling the Tea Party movement raciest cause a few whacko's throwing up racist signs, but when a leader of the Occupy Movement is caught in a plot to blow up a bridge, he is just a rogue element. I am always amazed by the double standards that so many people throw up to defend the failed policies and plain stupidity of the Occupy movement.

Last I checked, most organizations did not give the power to lease space or things in their name to just anybody and that position is usually given to some type of manager or some kind of leader, aka a position of leadership. Again, the stupidity you present is truly a thing of wonder and amusement.

Re: Occupy leaders arrested for plot to blow up bridge
If you're authorized to sign legal contracts for the group then it is safe to say you're more than just one of the stoners pounding the bongos in the drumline.
Perhaps you should first try to convince the occupiers in Cleveland. Even they can recognize how bad this is. That's why they're trying to get his name off the lease.
From the link provided earlier:
As they said, "If this gets into the media, it would be a disaster."
And please someone confirm that guy's name is a pseudonym.Last edited by rogue06; May 6th 2012 at 03:54 PM.

Re: Occupy leaders arrested for plot to blow up bridge
So who does one go to in order to be given the authority to sign leases on behalf of OWS? Or the Tea Party, for that matter? It seems to me that a person could sign a lease in the name of the Martian Empire -- doesn't mean the little green men gave the official OK.
I admit, I haven't been following this issue too closely, but I would think that the real issue is where the money came from -- if this guy was using official OWS funds, then that would strongly indicate that he was in a position of leadership. If he was using his own money or money he himself collected from whoever, then it's harder to say, wouldn't you agree?

Re: Occupy leaders arrested for plot to blow up bridge
I agree. But from what I can tell the Tea Party generally tended to kick them out while not so much at the Occupy protests as this case illustrates. If you want a double standard be honest and imagine the reaction if this had been some Tea Party officials caught trying to blow up a bridge? It would be a top 3 story in the news for over a week. The entire Tea Party would have been put under a microscope.

At the very least, it does show some pretty bad judgement to put such a person in charge of your group.
