Come on now, you are making an argument that voting magically means something is leaderless and simply claiming (without evidence) that OWS is magically immune from every other social group, government, protest, ect in human history, while directly ignoring that the fact they VOTE for issues and have community organizers and have spokesmen would prove that there is some sort of leadership social structure going on (it may not be as formal as other groups, but it is still there). You should know better Jaecp or do you simply ignore the training you got in the Navy which helps you see leaders, take charge when you are required to, and to pay attention to the social structure that humanity (along with all living great Apes I might add) takes part in and instead swallowing your own propaganda while just ignoring what you should have learned in your formal military training (I know I did)? There is no such thing as 'leaderless' at all and you should know this too.Last edited by lilpixieofterror; May 11th 2012 at 02:11 AM.

No, the fact that we don't have a leader makes OWS leaderless. You might have noticed that the individual groups don't hash much out between themselves, each city does its own thing within the confines of our overall shared purpose of societal enhancement
Basically,
OWS has a very flat organizational system.
The US has a vertical one (many vertical ones, but still vertical ones)
The US has many elected officials, leaders of the country.
OWS has no elected officials
You forget that I've worked with these people, I've seen how it works firsthand. It's all about the idea's. The best idea's win, because everyone gets a vote. We don't vote for leadership and then let them handle stuff. It's very flat.Last edited by Jaecp; May 11th 2012 at 02:42 AM.

Our government is indeed a mess. With the help of folks like OWS it will be getting worse.
He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. (Micah 6:8)

According to the Associated Press, law enforcement expenses were over $13 Million dollars during the first two months of the protests. That may not address "our government", but it certainly impacts local governments. That was from Nov 2011. Not to mention destruction of personal and municipal property, and lost days of work due to safety concerns.

"Years ago, I mean decades ago, I read a quote about politicians performing quid pro quo favors for campaign cash, and whether or not we could prove it. The guy who was quoted opined that it was difficult to determine. He noted that in many cases, the payoff might not take the form of votes on legislative action -- those might be detectable, and so are avoided -- but could take subtler forms, like the question that is never asked at a hearing.
The media's doing a terrific job of not asking questions it doesn't want to know the answer to. It doesn't ask these questions in bulk, and the great volume of questions it doesn't ask makes it cheap to not ask questions.
And it passes these savings on to you, the customer." Ace

JimL calling others blind and uniformed? Who is really being stupid here? Not those of us who want the government to follow the Constitution and stay out of the Peoples business and choose inform ourselves of what is really happening, instead of getting our talking points from the back of a cereal box.

Apparently you think that the welfare of the people is not the governments business. The determination as to the meaning of the Constitution is for the courts to determine, not you, and the courts have ruled that the Constitution is to be interpreted according to the changing circumstances of the times. In other words, its not the ten commandments, its not written in stone, which makes your assertion above that the Government doesn't follow the Constitution a moot, or rather, a talking point. Its a matter for the courts to decide, not you or the elected representatives. But this is getting of topic, tell me what it is that is really happening in your opinion, in what way is the government defying the Constitution and unlawfully intruding in the peoples business? No canned talking points or generalizations, please be specific.

Only anarchists don't think there's a purpose for government. But when it tries to control and regulate just about every aspect of your life from cradle to grave it becomes intrusive and adversely disruptive. Most of us eventually grow up and don't need a Nanny (State) holding our hands and making our decisions for us.

Government is very inefficient at charity and helping the poor. heck they are inefficient at just about everything.
