A Glory Seed Devotional
The Journey toward Sheephood...
One of the smartest animals God ever put on this green earth is the sheep. “Smartest,” you say, “That isn’t what I read. I read that sheep are stupid and dumb. I read they will walk right into a river with all that wool and drown. You call that a smart animal?”
Jesus chose a stupid and dumb animal to associate himself with because he knew its potential. One thing about a sheep, it holds no illusions about who it is, it knows it needs a leader to lead it to green grass, it knows it needs a protector to protect it from danger, it knows that it needs someone to take care of its wounds and love it like the shepherd does. That is why sheep will follow their shepherd as faithfully as they do. That is why they put their lives into his care. If you need a living example of what it means to be humble then consider the lowly sheep.
Do you still think sheep are stupid and dumb? The shepherd thinks of his sheep as his most valuable possession, he puts his life on the line each and every time he takes them to the pasture. He knows that if he places a high value on them, then that is what they become, valuable. If he treats them as the smartest of animals, they will become smart enough to put their trust in him.
Has anyone ever made you feel as though you were stupid and dumb? Do you find your burdens pulling you under the water? Are you searching for someone to take care of the cuts and bruises you occasionally get from life? If so, may I suggest Sheephood for you and put your life into the hands of the Good Shepherd and give him permission to take care of you?
Grace and PEACE!
Gary
