  • The joint declaration of faith.

From what little I know of it it seems pretty legit.
Honestly I am confused by a lot of stuff. I don't understand why Catholics have beads, I don't understand why people killed each other over baptism. I do understand christ died for me.

In 1999 the world council of lutherans and some other folks met up with the pope and a bunch of catholic theologians to settle the issue of justification. They came up with this.

Do you have a link for those of us too lazy to look for it ourselves?

I recommend you do not try too hard and ...research as little as possible. Such weighty things give me a headache. - Shunyadragon, Baha'i apologist

Nicene is the only true joint declaration of faith.
"As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths." Isaiah 3:12

There is no such thing as innocence, only degrees of guilt.

This declaration didn't involve all Lutherans -- but only Lutherans in the Lutheran World Federation.

It was also recently signed by the World Communion of Reformed Churches. As with the Lutheran World Federation, this is mainline US Reformed churches and a majority of international Reformed bodies. But it doesn't include the more conservative Reformed churches.

Apparent the World Methodist Council has also endorsed it, and Anglicans are expected to.

                    From the link:
//When Catholics say that persons "cooperate" in preparing for and accepting justification by consenting to God's justifying action, they see such personal consent as itself an effect of grace, not as an action arising from innate human abilities.//

The following man also thanked God, for the grace that enabled him to be a good person:

                    Luke 18:11-12
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
