A Glory Seed Devotional
Home Sweet Home…
I think I’ve found a new/old home although it is not a log home nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains (our retirement dream) it offers a more deeper sense of peace and belonging. The home I find myself returning and returning and returning to has 150 rooms some small and some quite large and each one has been decorated by the Holy Spirit. No matter what room you walk into you’ll find two large paintings hanging side by side one painting is that of Jesus extending his arms the other painting is me with my arms extended. And in each room, the voice of God can be heard with many different tunes and melodies. In case you haven’t figured it out yet over the entrance way is name of my new/old home – PSALMS.
The call of the PSALMS at times is so loud it over powers all the negative voices that seek to drown out my own feeble voice. There are times when the call of the PSALMS is so faint I need to focus all my energy and attention just to hear the words I long to hear, “Come home, come home and sit awhile and allow yourself to be loved, allow yourself to be forgiven, and experience the flow of peace.”
There are times when the PSALMS become so personal and so intimate I believe its 150 rooms were crafted from lives just like mine. Each time I enter one of its rooms I am first greeted by the words, “Gary, I did this just for you.”
I believe the 23rd PSALM sums up the not only the reason the Lord and the Psalmist created the PSALMS to be my home but also sums up God’s promise given to me through the life, death, and life of Jesus, the Good Shepherd.
“GOD, my shepherd! I don't need a thing. You have bedded me down in lush meadows, you find me quiet pools to drink from. True to your word, you let me catch my breath and send me in the right direction. Even when the way goes through Death Valley, I'm not afraid when you walk at my side. Your trusty shepherd's crook makes me feel secure. You serve me a six-course dinner right in front of my enemies. You revive my drooping head; my cup brims with blessing. Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life. I'm back home in the house of GOD for the rest of my life.” (Psalms 23:1-6 MSG)
By the way don’t think for one minute I have exclusive rights to the PSALMS because when you enter one of its 150 rooms you’ll see your own painting hanging next to Jesus’ and God’s voice will be calling out your name.
Before continuing your busy day please go back in Room 23 and spend a few minutes inhaling and digesting the fragrance and flavor of Jesus’ Peace it’ll come in handy later on!
Grace and PEACE!
Gary
