A Glory Seed Devotional
Home Sweet Psalms, Room 46…
“God is our protection and our strength. He always helps in times of trouble. So we will not be afraid even if the earth shakes, or the mountains fall into the sea, even if the oceans roar and foam, or the mountains shake at the raging sea. Selah” (Psalm 46:1-3, NCV)
There are Tsunamis. There are Earthquakes. There are Hurricanes. There are Tornadoes. There are Ice Storms. There are Blizzards. There are Natural Disasters. And while we, the people of the earth may be helpless against their powerful forces there is God! Is it possible for God to avert the powerful forces of Nature? According to the bible, Jesus stilled the storms so the answer is yes. But does God always do so? Recent history gives us a great big NO! But we still have God and we have each other.
No matter how fierce the storm may be. No matter how widespread the devastation may be. No matter how dark our future may be. We still have God and we still have each other. God may not always shield us from the storms he will always through each other help us pick up the pieces and start over.
I have a dear friend whose first name is Angel and as these words appear on my computer screen she is in one of the most terrible storms we humans experience. Angel is taking care of her mom who will in the near future depart this world in favor of the eternal world. It is not easy watching a loved one passing away. Right now Angel’s emotions are tossed to and fro on a sea of despair yet at the same time for her mom the lights of eternity are becoming brighter. However, Angel is not experiencing the storms alone standing behind her and looking over her shoulder Jesus stands tall and erect and she is also surrounded by loved ones and friends who have make their presence known through their prayers.
Angels world like the Psalmist’s world is being rocked yet the words of the Psalmist resonate through the annals of time and stand as God’s message for Angel and all the Angels who also find themselves navigating through raging life storms. “God is in that city (your life), and so it (you) will not be shaken. God will help her (you) at dawn.” (Psalm 46:5, NCV, adapted)
Grace and PEACE!
