A nice thread
]I've been back for only a few weeks and already I'm bored-again.
It's not that the threads aren't engaging but it's just that the topics are boring. (Mine too!)
What say you we talk about the things that unite us and not the things that separate us on this forum. I know it's not as much fun as the old tug-of-war
but I'm sure that our readers could use a little cheering up.
I'll start it off with some music and leave it up to you.
Ten years after - I'd love to change to world

Re: A nice thread
“Atheism is simply a refusal to accept deities and those systems of worship that claim (in conflicting ways) to answer the “fundamental questions.” Most of us know that many of those so-called “fundamental questions,” like “Why are we here?” don’t have an answer beyond the laws of physics. Others like “What is our purpose?” must be answered by each person on their own, for there is no general answer. Others, like “How are we to live?” are answered far better by secular reason than by dogmatic adherence to outdated or even immoral religious strictures”. Jerry Coyne

Well, if you're looking for peace, even in a meta sense I daresay that isn't the way to bring it about. (i.e. no, I don't think we're all going to agree that peace is possible.)

Re: A nice thread
Let's see if I can dial up the enthusiasm a bit. Here's Eric Clapton singing 'Change The World'
Peace,
If I could reach the stars, I'd pull one down for you
Shine it on my heart, so you could see the truth
That this love I have inside, is everything it seems
But for now I find, it's only in my dreams
That I can change the world
I would be the sunlight in your universe
You would think my love was really something good
Baby, if I could, change the world
If I could be king, even for a day
I'd take you as my queen, I'd have it no other way
And our love would rule, this kingdom we have made
Till then I'll be a fool, wishin' for the day
That I can change the world,
I would be the sunlight in your universe.
You would think my love was really something good,
Baby if I could change the world.
Baby if I could change the world.
I could change the world,
I would be the sunlight in your universe.
You would think my love was really something good,
Baby if I could change the world.
Baby if I could change the world.
Baby if I could change the world.
Eric

Re: A nice thread
Nice one, Bert.
This'll be my last post to the forum as my personal commitments outweigh my love for forum jamming.
I'll end it with a video by Bob Marley singing Redemption Song.
Jah Rastari!
Peace,
headheart

Redemption Song by Bob Marley
G Em7
Old pirates, yes, they rob I
C (½) C/B (½) Am
sold I to the merchant ships
G Em
Minutes after they took I
C (½) C/B (½) Am
from the bottomless pit.
G Em7 C
But my hand was made strong
C (½) C/B (½) Am
by the hand of the Almighty.
G Em C D (2)
We forward in this generation triumphantly.
CHORUS:
G
Won't you help to sing
C (½) D (½) G
these songs of freedom?
C (½) D (½) Em
'Cause all I ever have
C (½) D (½) G C (½) D (½)
redemption songs.
VERSE 2:
G Em7
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery
C (½) C/B (½) Am
none but ourselves can free our minds.
G Em
Have no fear for atomic energy
C (½) C/B (½) D
'cause none of them can stop the time.
G Em7
How long shall they kill our prophets
C (½) C/B (½) Am
While we stand aside and look?
G Em
Some say it's just a part of it
C (½) C/B (½) D (2)
we've got to fulfill the book.
CHORUS 2:
G
Won't you help to sing
C (½) D (½) G
these songs of freedom?
C (½) D (½) Em
'Cause all I ever have

'This was Marley's last single before his death on May 11, 1981. It sums up his life and what he stood for in his songs: freedom and redemption. Marley was a very spiritual singer who gave hope to the downtrodden in his native Jamaica, and whose message spread to the United States and around the world when he became a star.'
