A Glory Seed Devotional
Home Sweet PSALMS…

“Listen, LORD, as I pray! Pay attention when I groan. You are my King and my God. Answer my cry for help because I pray to you. Each morning you listen to my prayer, as I bring my requests to you and wait for your reply.” (Psalms 5:1-3 CEV)

“You are my King and my God.” David lived his life in two worlds. You and I live our lives in two worlds. David lived in the world created by his relationship to those around him and the earth itself, he also lived in a world created by his relationship with God. You and I are no different than David other than our times are much different than his. Or are they that much different?

There can be no doubt that David did not have access to the internet, he did not drive an SUV, he did not have a cell phone, but he did experience greed, he did experience hatred, he did experience betrayal from his own family, he did experience temptation, he did feel deserted, he did experience loyalty and disloyalty. While there have been many changes over time because we have experienced similar things in many ways we find ourselves living in a world similar world as David did.

David had a king, while we don’t have a king we have a president. David was loyal to his king, we are (some of us very reluctantly) loyal to our president. Yet David writes in Psalms 5 of the ultimate KING, God. David understood that ultimately God ruled the earth. In verse 8, David wrote something you and I sometimes overlook especially during those times when our personal worlds are going sour, when it seems as if the entire world is against us. “You do what is right, and I ask you to guide me,” David knew God loved him and he knew because God’s love was perfect and based only on David himself David knew he could depend on God.

When the world turns against us whether it comes from family, friends, enemies, circumstances, situations, or a combination when we ask God to listen HE LISTENS! And out of his perfect love, “God will do what is right,” not by our standards but by his perfect standards.

God always does the right thing! God never misses the mark! And you are God’s mark both in your world and in his world! David finishes Psalm 5 with, “Our LORD, you bless those who live right, and you shield them with your kindness.” (Psalms 5:12 CEV)

While I may not always agree with him, Barack Obama is my President but GOD is my KING! And while I am loyal to both, my heart, mind, and spirit belong to GOD!

Grace and PEACE!
Gary
