      Studying Ancient Greek

I'm taking an online ancient Greek class offered through the Institute of Biblical Greek and the textbook that I'm using is called "Athenaze: An Introduction to Ancient Greek Book I." Do any of you know of any easy reading material in ancient Greek besides the reading found in the textbook?

My wife and I are Greek newbies, but we just practice with the New Testament.

Here is one from Bill Mounce's series for Biblical Greek http://www.amazon.com/A-Graded-Reade...6777514&sr=8-1 which has some of the easier Biblical passages as well as excerpts from the Didache.

Gospel of John is very easy Greek. Small vocabulary and simple sentence structure.

MANY years ago, I took Greek in Seminary. It was called "Baby Greek" because it kept you up at night!

Have you checked through the archives here? I do remember a post about this where some really great sources were mentioned.

      Peace,
      Eric.

Just as a pointer: Biblical Greek is not always the same as "Ancient Greek".....I haven't looked into the book that you have mentioned...and I do not know if it focuses on Biblical Greek in general.

However, I do know of a book that does focus on Biblical Greek.....So, if you want a good text on Biblical Greek check here:

      http://www.amazon.com/Basics-Biblica...7886017&sr=1-1

The author actually has online lectures that go through the main points of the book here:

      http://www.biblicaltraining.org/bibl...william-mounce

This is the book I used when I took my intro to Biblical Greek class. With this book, you will essentially be able to use the whole NT as practice...Of course, I am also assuming that you are learning Greek to further your ministry. Hope this is helpful.

The book that I mentioned in the OP covers classical Greek.

I got the book by Mounce and I started listening to Mounce's lectures.
