A Glory Seed Devotional
Home Sweet PSALMS…

Life is about giving ourselves permission to be loved.
Life is about seeing that we are loved.
Life is about BEING living loved.

Of the 194 references to God’s steadfast love in the English Standard Version of the Bible, 123 references appear in the Psalms. Yet some of the most powerful verses don’t even contain the phrase. For example, try to find the phrase in Psalms 121… “I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.” (Psalms 121:1-8 ESV) While the word love itself cannot be found among its 107 words never-the-less God’s steadfast love is expressed and can be felt in every sentence.

Did you know the Psalms were written, preserved, and translated for YOU? Maybe the Psalmist didn’t know you from Adam but one thing is for sure God know who you are and God knew and knows you need to be loved therefore thousands of years ago God compelled the writing of his Love Story for you.

In his letter to the Romans Paul writes, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:35, 38-39 ESV)

While no one can separate us from God’s steadfast love, we can refuse to be loved by God or anyone else for that matter. Therefore, choose this day to let yourself be loved.

By the way, the phrase steadfast love does not appear in the ESV New Testament. Could it be Jesus was and is God’s Steadfast Love? I think so!

Grace and PEACE!
