mewithoutYou - Ten Stories
Not enough mewithoutYou love on this board.
You should check them out. For one, the band have some serious Christian history. I'm not sure the spirituality on display is orthodox anymore but it is still rather interesting and beautiful. They've just self-released their latest album, Ten Stories and it's pretty great. Aaron Weiss is quite possibly the best lyricist I know. This latest album centres around the story of a circus train crash in the ninteenth century and the adventures of the animals that escape (or fail to move). There's an abundance of imagery on the record that really paints this unusual setting. So much so that one fan felt compelled to produce a glossary of all the strange terms that appear in the lyrics http://ohdoubters.tumblr.com/post/23154954481 Here's a sample: http://mewithoutyou.com/lyrics/
And here's a song:

The only song of theirs that I really like is "Gentlemen", but I'll have to check this out because an IRL friend of mine heavily recommended it.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD! I had to help a customer find this album the other day.

"I hate Manwe's posts because I hate babies and America." --Augustine2004, August 6, 2011
Then Morgoth turned upon Húrin, and he said: 'Fool, little among Men, and they are the least of all that speak! Have you seen the Valar, or measured the power of Manwë and Varda?
Do you know the reach of their thought? Or do you think, perhaps, that their thought is upon you, and that they may shield you from afar?'
'I know not,' said Húrin. 'Yet so it might be, if they willed. For the Elder King shall not be dethroned while Arda endures.'
The Words of Húrin and Morgoth, "The Children of Húrin" by J.R.R. Tolkien

I haven't really heard much of their stuff after Brother, Sister (I think that's the name..), which was a great one. Might have to revisit these guys.
In the grave they chose to make their beds
Now all that they've created comes crashing down,
Down upon their heads
Death is waiting

I'm giving the album a listen on Spotify right now. So far, I'm liking what I'm hearing.
