A Glory Seed Devotional
Home sweet PSALMS…

“One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple. For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock.” (Psalms 27:4-5 ESV)

You asked to live your life in the house of the LORD and the LORD says, “I have been waiting for you to ask and the answer is YES!”

Not only does God say yes but Jesus puts his two cents in as well, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” (John 14:23 ESV)

One of the difficulties of living our lives in the house of the LORD is when we see houses we see walls, ceilings, and floors in the house of the LORD there are no walls, no ceilings, and no floors. In the first verse of George Rawson’s hymn titled “We Limit not the Truth of God,” is the reason the house of the LORD is unlike any house we’ve ever seen. “We limit not the truth of God to our poor reach of mind, to notions of our day and place, crude, partial, and confined: no, let a new and better hope within our hearts be stirred: the Lord hath yet more light and truth to break forth from his word.”

In spite of the fact that we are living our lives in the limitless house of the LORD does not mean there will be no more storms nor does it mean life will not take potshots as us (personally I wish for a storm-less and no potshot life) so do not miss the Psalmist’s PROMISE of shelter, concealment, and cover in his tent. The LORD has a tent? YUP! He sure does but it doesn’t look like a tent it looks more the powerful wings of the Holy Spirit.

You ever wonder where the LORD conceals us. You guessed it! He conceals us out in the open and the Psalmist tells us what will happen when the LORD conceals us under life’s nose! “A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you… Because you have made the LORD your dwelling place—the Most High, who is my refuge—no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent.” (Psalms 91:7, 9-10 ESV)

And God says, “Welcome to my house! I’ve been waiting for you.”

Grace and PEACE!
Gary

My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”
