Re: Who wrote this?
Cereb,
having pondered over the weekend, I have come to the conclusion that we have reached an impasse, and further debate is pointless. My own position is that these two extracts from the NT
spaceLuke: He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph, the son of Heli
spaceMatthew: Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary
are a contradiction, just like
spaceBerlin is the capital of Germany
spacethe capital of Germany is Cologne
is a contradiction.
I also think that this is not a contradiction:
spaceBerlin is the capital of Germany
spaceFrance's capital is Paris
and nor is this:
spaceMatthew: Jacob the father of Joseph
spaceJames: And behold Ioacim came with his flocks, ... and called her name Mary
but somehow you disagree.
Your position is based, AFAICT on the axiom that there are no contradictions in the bible, which you seem to have taken to mean that there are no contradictions in the text, rather than that there are no contradictions in the meaning. I think your position is not only wrong, but absurd, and see no point in continued cranial stonebreaking.
