I discovered it was the cause of all the cracked and blown engine blocks, and MY car ran just fine on the lower octane.

This was brought to my attention a couple of weeks before my baptism and briefly became a dilemma. I am the only member in my immediate family and the only daughter from my mother's first marriage. Mind you, I was rather lucky due to my parent's lack of interest of even going near the Temple. But I also knew that my father wanted the opportunity to walk his eldest child down the aisle. And then someone from church mentioned that the rings are not exchanged in the Temple, but a Ring Ceremony is often part of the reception. This got me thinking and I even discussed this with my mother, but I came up with a way to tweak the ceremony a touch. Instead of my groom and I just saying a couple of words and going from there, I could do it in the form of a civil wedding. It would only require us writing our own individual vows as saying the “I do”'s again would not be allowable. And then it can easily flow into the actual reception.

I think understanding is important, but so is compromise. I worked with my parents on this and so it's no longer a concern for me. I understand why they don't even want to go to the Temple, and they understand why it is important for me. Just as I understood that they would still want to be a part of that important day. Compromise is the key, ladies and gentleman, and the church does work with you on stuff like this. My bishop approved of my idea which gave me validation that I needed.

1. what about that 1 year waiting period after a civil union before a temple sealing that was mentioned in the LDS quote?

1) It wouldn't be an actual wedding ceremony, so the 1 year waiting period would not be needed.
2) No one yet. I just like covering my bases and thinking ahead of time.
