I hope you're having a good Memorial Day, Jeff --- leaving shortly for a Wounded Warrior Weekend BBQ. We will be hosting about 30 Wounded Warriors for boating and good food and fellowship. I know you'd really enjoy something like that.

I coached a girl's volleybell team all weekend. We only won 2 of 7, but we had a blast!

Sounds like a wonderfully worthy work to wage.

We do this 2 or 3 (or 4) times a year. Today, besides boating, we played "adaptive baseball" -- We let the Wounded Warriors come up with the adaptations for whatever challenges they have, and it's amazing how inventive they are. And with such incredibly good sportsmanship! They also come up with whatever adaptation to standard rules might be needed, and it's impressive how they always come up with the rules that MOST BENEFIT "the other guy", rather than themselves.

One of the funniest moments ... the pitcher (who had lost his right arm) was pitching left handed. He threw a wild pitch, hitting the batter in his left prosthetic leg just below the knee. The batter reached down, unsnapped something, then shook his leg, and his prosthesis fell off in the dirt. Then, standing there on one leg, he feigned horror and started yelling at the pitcher "You knocked my leg off!!! YOU KNOCKED MY LEG OFF!!!!! Both "dugouts" emptied, including several wheelchairs, like there was going to be a big rumble, and everybody ended up in the infield hugging and laughing and pretending to fight. Another guy, on those "springy metal legs" grabbed the batter's prosthetic leg, and began "walking it" to first base, yelling "The batter got hit - he gets a walk"... it was a CIRCUS! I was literally laughing so hard I was crying.

Seriously, to watch these guys with such "handicaps" have so much fun, knowing the tremendous sacrifices they have made, and seeing how hard they work to overcome them.... it don't get no better than that, and really makes a guy proud to be an American!

Well, if God turns out to be the merciful, fair, non-capricious Father-type of being that LDS believe Him to be, then not all LDS beliefs about God will turn out to be wrong--just the non-critical, non-character-related beliefs Him will turn out to be wrong.

And in that case I will have no problem saying "Sorry I thought You were a deity in your own right. Sorry I thought that Your Son was actually, in reality, Your Son. As long as your character is what I believed it to be, then I am happy to worship You, regardless what physical or non-physical FORM you may have. Even if You look like a lizard, I can deal with that, as long as You are a merciful, wise, non-capricious, fair lizard."

Perhaps not flippant, but defiance is within the realm of possibility IMO. Even if we are given a second chance to repent after death (which is possible per Orthodox Christianity), not everyone is going to take it.

Maybe not, but no matter what I don't think anyone will be talking back to God like they would another human being.

So please state what YOU will say to God, when you see Him, and His Son standing on His right, and you realize that your preconceptions about Him were wrong--you realize that He is no more missing a body then His Son is. You realize that He, His Son, and the Holy Spirit are each a deity in their own right, that they are NOT literally one being, but are rather homoiousion.
And you realize that Jesus really DID visit the Americas and other places after His resurrection, teaching His gospel and doing miracles.

And you realize that Jesus and His Father are wise and fair enough to prepare more than just the two extremes of either heaven or hell for people as their final destination.

He will respect my honest opinion if He's as wise and loving and merciful as I believe Him to be. If He's not all that, then He doesn't deserve my respect either, let alone my worship. After all, if my opinions were the result of ignorance, and God is really as Calvinism paints Him to be, then my very ignorance itself was pre-decided for me by God. So my culpability for my "flippant" attitude will be very insignificant.

Now let's move on to something I find quite interesting: Your answers to my questions about "Whatcha Gonna Do?" if LDS beliefs about God turn out to be correct:

Yeah, everyone believes that his/her beliefs about God are correct. It's kind of a given. But this thread asks hypotheticals, and in this case, you are to assume that your beliefs about God were WRONG. You are to state what your response to God would be IF your beliefs about God were to turn out to be wrong.


Like the LDS here, you are to assume the "impossible" has happened: That your beliefs might actually be incorrect.
