A User's Guide To Smoking Pot With Barack Obama

I'm beginning to see why Barack Obama is such a popular celebrity among so many in our culture.
      http://www.buzzfeed.com/gavon/a-user...h-barack-obama

But this is nothing like cutting hair of someone who "COULD" have been gay after all, back in the 50's or 60's, but no one really knows.

After all, drugs were part of the culture back then in the 70's and 80's, but pulling pranks on people wasn't part of the culture back in the 60's. Especially if the possibility exists that the brunt of the pranksterism just might have been gay, and no body knew it at the time.
"Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.
And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in c\taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning."

If previous drug usage is what makes you a popular then how do you explain why they didn't like George W. Bush? I suspect that there's a bit more too it.

I think you are right. A question might be asked then, what will it take to actually make a previously popular person, become unpopular. I know that GWBush became unpopular with me, but if I still had only the choice of the lesser of two weevils, I would still think GWBush is the lesser weevil. Not much of a choice though.

Re: A User's Guide To Smoking Pot With Barack Obama

I'm not an Obama supporter but I don't see this as the right tack to take - rogue pointed out the issue with George W. Bush. Though I had some serious problems with Bush's fiscal policies, I do deeply respect him as an individual, especially the 360 he took.

Having said that, if Obama is re-elected, I'm curious what stance his administration would take as regards to medicinal marijuana in his second term. I would be surprised if he didn't secretly support legalization, and was actually surprised when the DOJ, under his watch, commenced raids on state-run dispensaries in California when he had been looking the other way for awhile. (This is pretty low on the totem pole of issues I care about, but it is interesting to see how he'll handle it.)

Not so sure he was all that surprised. His Attorney General, Eric Holder, announced in 2010 that they would continue to prosecute individuals for marijuana possession, despite it being legalized in some states. I don't think Holder scratches his rear end without Obama's approval. When asked about this in an interview with Rolling Stone Obama declared:

Obama Explains Increasing Medical Marijuana Crackdowns, Raids In 'Rolling Stone' Interview

"What I specifically said was that we were not going to prioritize prosecutions of persons who are using medical marijuana," Obama said. "I never made a commitment that somehow we were going to give carte blanche to large-scale producers and operators of marijuana -- and the reason is, because it's against federal law."

The president continued: "I can't nullify congressional law. I can't ask the Justice Department to say, 'Ignore completely a federal law that's on the books.' What I can say is, 'Use your prosecutorial discretion and properly prioritize your resources to go after things that are really doing folks damage.' As a consequence, there haven't been prosecutions of users of marijuana for medical purposes."

Pinning someone down and forcibly cutting their hair while they struggle and cry isn't really a 'prank'

(Not that I think present Mitt Romney should be judged for it or whatever)

Nor is it at all comparable to peacefully smoking marijuana with a group of others. Which is what OtherCheek said but he seems to have written with a sarcastic bent.

Smoking and possesion of pot ought to be decriminalized. Bullies who harass people shouldn't enjoy special protection and have their actions softened by lies (played a prank) (victim might be gay). Though I respect that its hard to be completely fair minded towards people you support as a political candidate.

Cannabis is addictive. I don't believe endorsing any addictive substance is in the best interest of a nations people. But perhaps you are right. Legalize the drug, make dealers register before they can sell it, and then one day execute all the dealers. That may stop it for a while.

I eagerly await your campaign to reestablish Prohibition -- and to outlaw tobacco while you're at it.

More psychological than any physical addiction. In a similar way to a good book that you don't want to put down is psychologically addictive.

So are sugar, fatty foods, beer and liquor, smoking and deep fried sticks of butter. Planning on making nanny state say 'No! No! Boo! Boo! Go to jail!!!' to those too?

Decriminalizing is not endorsing. In the case of cannabis it simple makes sense. Anyone who thinks the best way of getting people to not smoke pot, is to throw them into jail where they can socialize with criminals who deal and do drugs, are dumber than liberals.
